Catholic church and globalization.

19 August, 2001 Siena

Two articles in the italian newspaper Corriere della Sera tried to define the modern role of the Catholic church in relation to the phenomenon of globalization. Two well-known journalists wrote about the Catholic church using a modern vocabulary. They didn't seem to understand the intention of the church. From their words we can observe a subtle panic sense.

They used a modern language and a modern culture, the culture that comes from the Enlightenment culture, from the hedonistic culture of our times, from the egoistic cynism of our politicians, who affirm that helping poor people means renouncing our wealth.
This dependent modern culture, dependent on wealth, dependent on drugs, dependent on fame, dependent on materialism doesn't know the meaning of meditation, the beautiful feeling of listening to GOD.

The old Catholic culture didn't and does'nt depend on a person, on "the suggestion of the image of the Pope", as a Journalist said, it doesn't depend on intriguing sophisms, this old Catholic culture comes from GOD and flowers in the heart of each person, who meditates on suffering.
