Many family members have John Neptune married to Ruth Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Captain John Brown and Hannah Owen. This is incorrect. She has been listed as Ruth Molly Brown, Ruth Elizabeth Brown, or just plain Elizabeth Brown. This Elizabeth was born in Connecticut and is the wrong person. Our Ruth was born in Goose Creek, Loudoun County, Virginia and is listed in the early Church records of that county. In the Fairfax Monthly Meeting records, births-deaths-marriages page 43, she is listed with the list of children of William and his wife Elizabeth. She is also listed as a witness for her sister's marriage. She married out of unity (outside the Quaker faith) and had testimony given against her soon after her marriage.
