My ISP just went out of biz! My new e-mail is yow2@mindspring.com. If any alumni would like an e-mailed copy of my 1952-1986 database with contacts for 1,700 Wildcats, please send me your name and graduation year. Also, for info about the october FSHS reunion in Las Vegas, visit http://www.jenpet.com/vegas2001.htm Ciao, amici! --George Petersen FSHS '71. 6/01 Hi. My name is Christine Van Dette. I graduated from FSHS in '79. I didn't live in Naples but came in on a bus from near Mt.Vergine where our fathers worked at the AF communications site. Remember Mark Shultz, Maria Quintana (and her brother who got sent back to the states for hashhish brownies in the teachers' lounge), Margaret Rexroad, or Perry Smith? We were the crew from Avellino. I lettered in volleyball but wasn't too good at it. I did better in chorus. Wow, that was a blast. I did a little mini-concert at school with an Italian band called Martin, doing back-up vocals. A bunch of us were in the play The Crucible I played Abigail. If I remember correctly, Scot Brogan, Guze, and Tricia Koopman were in that play, as well. In some ways I'm pretty shy, and since I didn't live in Naples, I didn't meet a lot of people who lived there unless we were involved in some activity together. Oh, there was one other thing that '79 people might remember me for. I was one of the three speakers at graduation at the military academy that year. I wasn't valedictorian or anywhere close...we auditioned for the part. When I got up to speak, I was nervous and took a deep breath and let it out and the sound resonated into the microphone and out over the audience and got a good laugh that helped loosen me up for the speech. I'm an English teacher now, living in deep South Texas, single with no children except my students. It looks like I may have missed some FSHS reunions over these past twenty-two years (oh,my are we getting old?), but I'm glad to have found this site now at least. Hello to all of you. Hope things are going splendidly wherever you are. Thanks for doing this, Dan. (Oh, by the way, I tried to register on the main list of FSHS graduates, but my info wouldn't go through. Is that setup still working? Christine Van Dette CMVanDette@aol.com 6/01 To all those lucky ones going to the Napoli Reunion-have a WONDERFUL trip! If someone could please eat some gnocci for me, as well as some buffalo mozzarella with good, crusty bread....oh, and buy some shoes, and drink some wine, and wait! Let me go with you! My prayers are with you all for a safe vacation. Amy(Smith)Patterson '78 hparena@earthlink.net 6/01 Paige Parker, class of '81. In 1981, for senior skip day, a group of us that included myself, Gale Antonucci, and Tiziana Olson, skipped school. We were told that there was a path behind the school on via Manzoni that would lead out somewhere away from the school. We didn't realize people were talking about a path that led around the buildings next to the school, so we tracked down the mountain behind the school. We had to be rescued by the Italian military because we were trespassing on an Italian military arsenal. We had to be rapelled down the mountain! There were a few others in our group. If you were one of these people, please contact me at paige.limerick@nasd.com 6/01 Hi everyone, this is Dan Conlon again. You may have noticed that there have been no messages posted most recently because I have just returned from the Napoli reunion 2001. I must say that it was a great time and if you were not there you missed a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thanks so much for all your hard work Joyce Jones, Chantelle Hilliard, and Page Holbrook. Joyce you have a great family. I hope your son likes the portrait drawing done by the artist in the Galleria as much as Connie and I did. The reunion was like going back in time and re-living those wonderful years. I want to say thanks to the spouses of the class of 75 that spent one entire day as Paul O'Brien, Lincoln Cox, Mary Werner Willson, Dan (Arnold) Urscheler and myself drove all over looking for the houses we used to live in a 7 seat fiat van. (Scott White, Mike Sullivan and the rest of the lago gang the houses are still standing at Lago Patria but the ruins we used to play football on has been fenced off.) Paul you're a great driver weaving in and out of traffic, where were you when we needed a car 26 years ago. Thank you to my classmates listed above as well as Ed Ryan and Chery Liby (even though you were late getting there Cheryl) for being there, to share and re-live those great years. It was great to visit the old high school even if it looked beat up. I was able to glance at some of the messages coming in and see that the others at the reunion felt the same. What else can I say, Napoli hasn't changed a bit. (Mary see Paul Lebleu's message I think he is wrong about the Carney Park pool!!!) I took over 400 pictures so I am working on a page link so those who were there or not can see some of the interesting points (Carney Park, Afsouth...etc.) 06/01 Hi All!!! WhitetheTiger here. Michelle DiMaria has begun the process of setting up a 1970's era "Tropical" Fort Lauderdale Wildcat Reunion. The theme will be tropical and the target dates will be over the 2002 MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND! There are a lot of Wildcats who come to Florida every year for family vacations and it may be possible to combine a Wildcat reunion, family vacation, and the Florida attraction things over the same time-frame. Michelle has some great ideas on the organization, implementation and planning for a reunion event (the other non-reunion related things would, of course be your own business,) and she may need some support, and or feedback. Interested folks contact Michelle at: mcdimaria@yahoo.com Plans and committments are going to be worked out. Again, The target date will be a three day weekend (MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, 2002) I can tell you that this event is going to take place and I'm going to help!!! 6/01 FHSH reunion in Wichita KS is going to be happening at the Overseasbrats Homecoming - July 19-21 - We have several Wildcats attending - if you would like specific info contact Belinda Lee-Barrett (83) at HB5901@aol.com So far we have people from 79 to 83 registered to attend and several more who are coming in for the Saturday party - Hope to see you there - Bee hb5901@aol.com 6/01 I enjoyed Napoli and FSHS 71 to 75 my name is James Crawford. My lovely wife Kelly Byrne FSHS 73 to 76 would like the e-mail address for Martha Piemontese. We have a 75 FSHS year book what do you want it for Linda L. We could broker a deal for a nice Kinkos copy. We talk of going back, we still talk of the places we knew, it is a great bond for my wife and I. I would like to get drunk again at jimmie's bar and jump off the rocks at the cove into the ocean. Doing something so outrageous you couldn't do it in the States. If you read this John Varvi or Dewey Curl e-mail me. jcrawfo97@earthlink.net 6/01 Carey '76 again. In an effort to gradually move away from AOL, I have opened a hotmail account. I will use both for awhile, and eventually just the hotmail. TIBBScj@hotmail.com 6/01 I saw a post that mentioned Margaret Rexroad from Avellino (Mt. Vergine) - was she the one who was in volleyball who was killed in a car accident the year after graduation? She had a volleyball scholarship at some university in the states. If it was not her, who was it? Do you remember? The death was announced at the high school in 1981-1982 school year or earlier. We definitely need a memorial page for Naples alums. 6/01 Looking for Rochelle Saurbaugh from Naples. She was in Girl Scouts and went on the Switzerland trip over Spring Break to the Our Chalet in Adelboden. She had serious asthma attacks, so her mother (also a nurse) came with us on that trip. Rochelle and her family lived in an apt in the Pinetamare towers. I've lost touch with Rochelle since high school. If you know her contact info, please post. Thanx. She would have been an 80s era person - probably 84-86 classes. 6/01 Ciao Wildcats! This is Genevieve Bird (now Joslin)from 76-80. How great to see so many names I remember! I've spent so many years wondering where everyone was and now I have found this site! First, how shocking to see not one but three nams from my past in the news! And how tragic the circumstances. My support and prayers to all involved. I'm searching for any and all old friends--I'd love to hear from you all!! I live in Indiana now, married 13 years and have a 16 mo. old baby boy. I'll be returning frequently to this site, noow that I've found it, so post a message or send me an e-mail. I hope I entered this right--I'll probably mess up the html thing. 6/01 Checking again on anyone from 1973 who might have known me. I attended FSHS my senior year only. Was in band and drama (The Miser, Antigone)Tom Carson class of '73 twbgcrsn@nexband.com 6/01 Ciao Nahs. Sarah Douglas class of '99 I attended NAHS 1994-1997 and I loved it! I would love to return to Naples and tour the new school and base. I now live in Virginia Beach, VA. I work for TWA reservations and attend TideWater Community College...My e-mail address is douglassarah@hotmail.com 6/01 Looking for all my old pals from 1966-1969...Here goes. SUE AND KATHY BAKER, Mr. Douglas (yearbook advisor), Don and Debbie Jackson, Linda Stout, Clifford Zumbrook, Vicki Hoag, teacher Sylvia Lockeley (Mrs. Joe Lockeley), teacher Billie Mims, Richard Skelton, Neil Scott, Richard Simpson, Walda Monje, Jay McKenna, those gorgeous Steinman girls, Marsha Fitton, Laura Luongo, Steve and Melody Yates, JOANNE, KURT AND GARY GLASPY, THE NAGELS, the Pellands, Joe, Michael and Michelle Chissell. We were in the President Hotel on Caravaggio across from the old NSA in the summer of 66 with those listed in all caps. Ready, set, write me... Frank Stewartsappleseed@hotmail.com 6/01 Lived at 71 Via Manzoni from 1966-1969 and attended Forrest Sherman at the other end of Via Manzoni next door to Parco Flory and across the street from the Scuola Suizzera. Those who were there know that NSA in Agnano was only the PX, Commissary, a few office buildings between the Commissary and where the high school now is, and the new hopsital up around the bend on the hill. The theatre/chapel and the Hotel President were opened in late 68 or early 69 if I remember. NSA was located up on Caravaggio about a quarter mile past Manzoni, heading down toward the soccer stadium. We had no TV or phone and basically created our own fun at the Rec Field, AFSOUTH Beach, the outdoor theatre at AFSOUTH during the summer, Ischia, hitchhiking (Mom said Americans only, but what the hell), basketball games at FSHS, and just life there in general. At that time, when you arrived, your Mom and Dad went through an "orientation" at AFSOUTH, which basically told you what to look out for! , where to go and not go, what to eat and not eat, and so on. We were cautioned against eating ANY dairy produced locally, as nothing was pasteurized or homogenized and it was really easy to get TB. So the only gelati we could have from Motta was this two toned popsicle that was sort of a cherry and pistachio combination that was really outrageous. Meat and fish were also out of the question as there was no USDA standard and we all know that seafood came right out of the bay and the sewage went right in. I remember Mom disinfecting lettuce in a wash pan filled with clorox and water for twenty minutes. Local restaurants were considered OK if none of the offending items above were consumed, so you were basically left with breadsticks and pizza. Anyway, many more memories survive and I would love to chat with anyone who was there during those pioneer days as il piacere e' mio. Ciao belli! Frank Stewart sappleseed@hotmail.com 6/01 Hi folks! This is Big Rog from "79". The reunion in Wichita is coming soon so if you havn't register do now! Because we would like to see alot of old friends to come. It would be nice to beat the Frankfurt High members for being number one at the reunion. If anybody want to know where my brothers are? I will give you their e-mail if you want to say hi. If anybody around the Hampton Roads area, I would like to know so we can meet and share old times. Keep the e-mail coming, because it nice to see old names come across that you havn't heard for awhile, because we starting to show our ages again ha! ha!. Everybody have a nice day. Big Rog rojo1@erols.com 6/01 Just got back from the Naples Reunion in Napoli. Man...what a blast!! High fives to Joyce Jones, Chantelle Hilliard, and Page Holbrook. This reunion was top notch!! The food was out of this world, the sites brought back memories from nearly 30 years ago. My best memories of the trip? Here goes: Munchin' on Pizza Margarhetas, sluggin' down the vino, buzzin' around capri on a Vespa, Pompei, riding the buses to the Mergilina station and hoppin' on the Faniculare riding it up to Manzoni and checking out the bay of Napoli. Watching our bus driver maneuver through narrow streets with inches to spare and when not able to get around a parked fiat, simply get out of the bus and actually move the car aside with his bare hands! Man it was non-stop. And I loved it all. Most of all, getting to know the friends again and catching up on years gone by. Enjoyed the whole trip. Oh..and JP...the party at Steve Osborne's place was a major plus. The food and view of the bay from his rooftop porch was out of this world. Oh ...and the Humpty Dumpty brass figure has found a place on my entertainment center. She looks right at home. What a trip!!Again...best of wishes to all and again...Dan, Thanks for the upkeep of this board. Oh...by the way...the pool at Carney WAS open in the summer of '74!! Just wanted to throw that in. 1goldmine@goingplatinum.com 6/01 FSHS Alumni who visited Napoli: We are back, we are Jet Lagged. We are awed. I will always love Napoli and it's inhabitants.
