This is my harp. | |||||||||||||||||
This pretty much confuses everyone, especially Emily, although I've proved it many a time. Yes it's a harmonica, or mouth organ, (and also a pirate booty...dont ask) but its also known as a harp. And it rules. I hope I've sorted that out, but she'll probably argue anyway, silly goose. I'm learning to play it, and it pretty much rules. It makes a great sound, is very portable and is quite easy to play. I bought a microphone to help me play, £15 off a market stool, pretty lush. It is cordless as well, but thats goin off the subject. Well well well what can we say about this wonderous instrument.... well I'm guessing not a lot of people have heard many songs or artists that use the blues harp, so we'll see what we can do about that. First of all you need to know the blues scale. Just like a normal scale, just with blues notes for the harmonica, pretty simple. On a harmonica, the holes are labled with numbers, 1 being the deepest, and 10 being the highest. The blues scale below is shown in 'Harmonica tableture' meaning it shows the numbers of the holes and arrows to show you what to do. An arrow pointing upwards means you blow the hole and a arrow pointing downwards means you suck the hole. And get your mind out of th gutter, thats just rank. Oh and if the arrow is looks like the enter key on the keyboard, it means you have to bend the note. |
