Our Mission
To create and maintain innovative programs that provide academic, socialization, vocational and motivational support for urban youth ages 6-18 and their families.  Local grassroots individuals founded the FUN CITY Summer Youth Academy in the 1970s with 25 children in the First Ward, central Columbia, Missouri. The FUN CITY Youth Academy officially established as Community Playground of Columbia Incorporation (CPCI) in July 1973. CPCI is a Missouri not-for-profit corporation that operates FUN CITY Youth Academy (FCYA) Summer and Saturday programs. Collaboration is the foundation by which FUN CITY Youth Academy programs have been sustainable. FUN CITY continues to rapidly expand, over 30 years, serving 200 + families annually in collaboration with more than 26 local agencies and organizations.  We promote [and stand firm upon] the African Proverb: "It Takes A Village To Raise A Child".
