If you are one of the millions of party-goers you wont need to be told what
Trance Nation is all about.
To an ever-growing army of clubbers, only da trance
sound can be relied upon to create
da desired effect.
It's the sound that guaranteed
to take you up a gear and into outer space.
Trance has been building up on da club for years
now. More spiritually
inclined trancerswill tell you that the origins of da sound stretches all
da way
back to shamanistic rituals of an ancient civilizations, where used
to propel people into altered space and
bring on hallucinogenic visions.
The Birth of trance on the German techno scene back in the early nineties
is represented by the likes of Age Of Love's Age Of Love and
Energy 52's Cafe Del Mar. These tacks has been re-discovered by succeeding
generations of clubbers, one listen is enough to remind you why.
With a barrage of quality tunes, the trance gospel soon spread outside
German borders, from the full moon parties of Goa and Thailand to the
clubs of Britain and Italy.
Over the years, trance has turned and twisted in many different
directions, from the intricate patterns like Goa or to the ferocious
aural assault of knarly acid trance. But For the beginnings of da
smooth, pumpin' sound that dominates clubland today, we must look to
the mid nineties & the arrival of producers like BT and
Robert Miles, both featured here at their
tranced-up best.Supposedly created to help
Italian clubbers chill after hard night's partying and reduced the
risk of road accidents, the softer atmospherics of Robert Miles'
Children quickly became an Ibiza and UK club anthem, with a wave of
melodic tranced-out monster including BBE's 7 Days and One Week,
Chicane's Offshore and Way
Out West's The Gift following close behind.
Finding favor with super jocks like Sasha,
Digweed, and Nick
Warren, this new sound was variously called epic and melodic house, but the
trance influence can be heard running deep through these tunes.
The sharp electronic grooves of trance have spread as far-and-wide as
Israel, the far-East 'n Australia, while Sasha
and Digweed have taken things trans-Atlantic
with their eagerly awaited sets at New York's Twilo club. And the talent
is already beginning to emerge from Europe's latest trance outpost.
Holland, not least in the form of DJ/producer Ferry Corsten, the mastermind behind the irresistible rhythms of System
F's floor-buster Out Of The Blue as
well as the impeccable mixing skills.
The music continues to
evolve... a soundtrack for party people ready to give it up to mighty electronic
groove. We call it Trance, and it's taking over the world. Listen
to it and find out why...
