Her relationship with: Van These two are meant to be! Anyway, at first Hitomi's pretty ticked at Van because he was being very chauvanistic towards her, and hell, why would she put up with that? Just a few episode in, they're worrying about each other and feel that the other needs their protection. Now I don't mean this in a possessive kind of way, I think they were doing this sort of subconsiously. Later, Van sort of recognizes his feelings towards Hitomi but doesn't know how to act. That whole "I need you power" incident, well, it was badly done of Van. But he's also very sweet. An example of this is when they were in Zaibach and Van goes off to fight the Guymelefs and he says to Allen, "Allen, hold her [Hitomi]." And when Van and Hitomi are flying to Fanelia, and he says, "whether to Allen or the Mystic Moon, I'll bring you back safely." Aww! Personally, I think it took Hitomi way too long to figure out that it was Van that she loved. But the scene where she tells Van that he was right and she was the one who didn't understand, was so sweet. Or before that when she was talking with Folken, and then she's in that black space with Van running away with all the string that comes untied as she realizes her feeling for him. The writers really ticked me off with the way they left the ending a gigantic cliff hanger! It was so beautiful and sad. It's up to us fans to decide what happens after she goes back. I hope that she and Van somehow find each other and live happily ever after, which shows in my fanfics... To end this, I'll say that Van and Hitomi are the couple, my favourite couple, and that in my mind, they couldn't be in a relationship with anyone else.
Her relationship with: Allen I have a theory about why Hitomi was so attached to Allen. When she first came to Gaea, she really didn't have any ties to Earth save her clothes and bag. When she met Allen, she saw Amano in him. Since he reminded her of home, she became infactuated with him. This infactuation made her slightly oblivious to his player ways. Even so, Hitomi obviously rubbed off on him because he thought he was in love with her. Enough so to want to marry her. When she returns to Earth the first time, he realizes he mistook his brotherly love for her for romantic. He also knows she belongs with Van. When it comes down to it, they are allies, ex-lovers, and very good friends. Hitomi also has a lot of respect of Allen. I think this has to do with his mature chivalrous self. Notice she adds -san onto his name, but no suffix to Van's, even though he's a king.
Her relationship with: Meruru I think first and fore-most, these two are adversaries. Meruru thinks Hitomi is a competitor of Van's love. I don't think Hitomi realizes it but she won't back down from a challenge. Meruru is always making cracks at Hitomi, which is most noticible when Millerna thinks that Hitomi is a hand maiden. "That's an insult to hand maidens everywhere." Or when Hitomi is given Millerna's dress. "You look good enough to be a hand maiden." And Van shuts her up! My favourite Meruru and Hitomi part is when they're in Allen's castle and are staring at each other in the sick room. Meruru mentally insults Hitomi's hair and clothing, while Hitomi does the same to her tail and ears. It's also very funny when Chid asks Hitomi to do a reading for him and Meruru goes on about how creepy it is. Meruru's dislike of Hitomi is apparent when Van tries to go to find her after the incident in the windmill. "Just forget about her!...You'll catch a cold!..." Or when Van and Hitomi go to Fanelia, and Belder (the moleman) informs everyone he saw seen them together. Meruru goes on about Hitomi seducing him, then about how they might've eloped. But just like Allen, she realizes that Van loves Hitomi and encourages Van to find her. In the end, I think Hitomi and Meruru wind up very good friends, partly out of their common bond.

Her Relationship with: Millerna I'd first like to say the writers planned Millerna to be Gaea's equivilent to Yukari. Each represent the person in the way of Hitomi's love (to Amano then Allen.) Millerna get off on the wrong foot with Hitomi by thinking and calling her a hand maiden. Hitomi notices Millerna's love for Allen right away and becomes jealous. She is very happy to hear later that Millerna is engaged to Dryden. After drinking too much vino in episode 6 (?), Hitomi goes to get some air to find Millerna making a love confession to Allen and then kissing him. Hitomi gets upset, gets kidnapped, etc., etc. Anyway, Hitomi and Millerna don't see each other again until Allen is wounded saving Hitomi. The first time they really talk is when Millerna returns Hitomi's bag. I think she feels that she has the upper hand in the situation and acts condensendig yet civil to Hitomi. Then there is the hilarious scene where Millerna goes to Hitomi for advice for her 'friend' with boyfriend trouble. It's hard to believe that Millerna didn't find out the Hitomi liked Allen before hand. Then next personal coversation is a deja vu of the previous one wear Hitomi goes to Millerna and they both realize that they knew about Chid. Hitomi seems to be spiteful of Millerna and falsely reads the card and disaster insues. But Millerna forgives Hitomi and blames herself. It's hard to describe their relationship, there was so much between the two, mostly Allen. I will assume that they parted as friends but I can't say how close.
