about me
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Well, what to say about myself? I was born in Montogomery Alabama in April of 1972. I grew up there and a six month stint in Punta Gorda, Florida. I moved to Camden in 1984, and was amazed to find that they still used rotary phones out there in the sticks. I was in the Cub Scouts, finally obtaining the Arrow of Light. I segued into Boy Scouts where I earned Eagle Scout in 1989 and was accepted into the Order of the Arrow. I went to Space Camp in Huntsville AL, three times, loved every trip. I was Shuttle Pilot, Shuttle Commander and Mission Director, the last of which was the best, as the instructors finally ran out of problems to give us.
I was a sort of social misfit in high school, I moved to Camden in the 7th grade, into a class with people who had been in school together their whole lives. The class was around 18-20 people, and that was the entire 7th grade. I was an outsider and usually felt alone alot. I compensated by making up a different persona to have around people, one that was very happy and liked everyone and LOVED to party. Thus was the development of Fuz, my alter ego.
I played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons, I was a classic underachiever. "He won't apply himself," must be the most overused phrase in my academic career. S'ok, I don't mind.
My parents got our first computer in 1986. I still have that Amstrad, it had an 8086 processor running at a blazing 8 mhz, and a blistering 512K of RAM. We were pushing the technology envelope with a 20 MB hard card. It ran MS-DOS 3.2. I hated it to start with, but eventually I had it tricked out. By the time I left for the Marines, I was already doing international e-mail with friends in Canada through an e-mail network called ILink. I frequented the "Hacker Central" BBS in NJ, which later was renamed "The Central Core", run by Mike Cox and Evelyne Stalzer. I remember my parents going crazy when I spent $150 on a new 2400 modem, when the 1200 I had worked JUST fine.                  MORE>
