Welcome To My Cigars Page

General

Cigar smoking is one of life's great pleasures and a fabulous passtime. I've been smoking cigars seriously for two or three years now. I started by buying only tubed cigars because I didn't have a humidor to keep them in good condition. Needless to say this situation didn't last for long. These days I have a temporary coolerdor that holds about five or six boxes (I'm looking for a larger one but it's the wrong time of year!), a large 250 cigar humidor which I use for aging purposes, a 70 cigar humidor for everyday use, a 20 cigar humidor in my office and of course a travel humidor that holds about 15 cigars. My cigar collection usually runs at around 300 cigars.

In a short space of time I have degenerated from a moderately normal sort of bloke to a cigar fanatic and I have a nice collection of empty cigar boxes on top of my bar (aah, alcohol, another of life's great pleasures) in the photo opposite to prove it.

Cigar smoking is a marvelous hobby if you want to deplete your bank balance rapidly. Apart from spending loads of money on the cigars themselves, there are all kinds of essential accessories like cases, cutters, lighters and of course one of each is not enough. I have many lighters and cutters but my favourites are my gold Davidoff round cutter, gold Dunhill cutter and gold IM Corona cigar lighter shown opposite.

Of course I use plenty of other cutters and lighters. I find the Wenger Swiss Army Knife with cigar scissors especially useful as it travels just about everywhere with me. My Blazer microtorch and Prometheus Jupiter lighters are indispensable for smoking outdoors, although not windproof they do much better outside than a normal lighter. I also have an AVO punch cutter and a penknife/lighter on my keyring for emergencies!

Cigars I've Smoked

A list of the cigars I've smoked so far in my quest for cigar heaven. I'm being very lazy concerning updating this as I have smoked a lot more cigars than those listed, but I'll never get round to adding them as I can't remember what they are. You can blame that one some fruitful exchanges with friends overseas.

Cigar Software

DateCodes macro for the Psion Series 5/5mx palmtop computer. I'd like to write some sort of humidor management software with a cigar database, shopping list, humidor contents and possibilities to add tasting notes and so on. The only problem is that I don't have time for that just at the moment.

I almost finished writing my DCLCigar software for the Psion Series 3 machine but didn't quite finish it before upgrading to a Series 5mx. I guess it's going to be a while before I get around to starting on a Series 5 version but I'm managing quite well with the built in Data and Sheet applications for my cigar tracking needs.
