         Plastic World

It's a plastic world in a plastic box
And it beams itself into those who watch
Into the soul and into the psyche
It humbles them all, the small and mighty.

We take it in as we rest awhile
The California sun or the model's smile
The millionaire in his red Ferrari
It's all so real, it's all so starry.

But switch it off and it's all a dream
And the real world conspires to make you scream
You alternate from bliss to pain
And you do it over and over again.

Your mind is stretched to breaking point
Till the Spirit comes to re-anoint
That flagging will, that dying love
That reaching to the heaven above
And once more grace is given to you
And the plastic world dissolves anew.
