One of Dad's uncles was a farmer and was trained as a steam engineer. In the 1930s he got a job in the mines at Foothills, south of Edson on the Coal Branch. He had to move off the farm but left his younger brother in charge, with an agreement to share the farm in exchange for work.
With the agreement there was a list of stock and equipment which makes interesting reading in terms of what was needed for a "turn key" small farming operation at that time.
