OUTREACH AND CHURCH Ministries is an international non-profit organization, which began in Sydney over 100 years ago, and is now found in over 25 countries.

We ARTICULATE the Christian message:

  • At COMMUNITY VENUES: Restaurants, pubs, clubs, coffee shops, wherever people want to meet to consider what they can believe in.
  • On CAMPS: In some states (Qld, Vic) OAC run our own camps. In others (like WA), we provide camp organizers with people who can say it well, and live it up close. (Spoken word, activity, small group discussions, etc.)
  • At UNIVERSITIES: Seminars & lectures that present good & sufficient reasons for faith. (Dialogue, panel formats also.)
  • In HIGH SCHOOLS: One-hour classes offering students knowledge, skills and values, in their search for reality & hope. (Activities, sketches, stories, teaching, stories, games, prizes, etc.) Also Lunchtime programs. Also weekly Religious Education classes in High School classes. (GW is working on RE curriculum development.)
  • In PRIMARY SCHOOLS: One-hour class-time programs presenting beliefs and values in a fun way. (As with High schools, but pitched for children, plus musical fun.)
  • At CHURCH-BASED OUTREACH EVENTS: Is your church holding an open-day? Or invitational events, or meetings, at which you want the Gospel well-put? Need a fresh voice?
  • At YOUTH GROUPS: Church-based, or out & about. (Speaking, dialogue, fun, multimedia…)
  • Through KIDS CLUBS: A week of after-school meetings – teaching with fun & games & food.

We ALSO TRAIN Christians to articulate the Christian message clearly, in their own various contexts:

  • CHURCHES: In Services; Special seminars / meetings…
  • YOUTH GROUPS: How to share your faith – for Christian teens. What is the faith, essentially?
  • ALTERNATE FAITH COMMUNITIES: GW is working on some alternate ways of doing church (whilst still being Biblical), and understands that there are groups of Christians that are not mainstream. (See Reframe.)
  • TRAINING SEMINARS: On Creative ideas; communicating to children; Worship; Evangelism; Developing Communities of Faith. Western world Cross-cultural, communication. And other stuff.
  • BOOKS: Resources & ideas on… Games, tricks, basic outlines, tips and guides.
  • PARACHURCH GROUPS: We help / train / equip with creative ideas, such groups as Youth With A Mission, Operation Mobilization, Youth For Christ, and Scripture Union.
  • COLLEGES: In WA, you can find GW giving occasional lectures at ACOM, PBC, YWAM UON, & BTCWA. Content includes youth ministry, postmodernity, Alt worship, basic church-planting issues, evangelism, contextual mission, community development, NT. So far.
  • REFRAME: Helping people who don’t fit the mainstream mold, do outreach & faith communities for same. Especially, but not only, for postmodern people (Gen X and beyond). (This is linked with the Forge training program.)
  • FORGE WA: Since 2004 providing a one year internship for pioneering missionaries from & to the Western world. It involves 3 one-week intensives, 2 20-week pioneering internship placements, coaching, reading & reflection, and the best input we can find from our international links among the “emerging missional” churches. (A bit jargony, but it is a recognized phenomenon.)

In Australia, OAC Ministries is very aware of current changing times, and encourages us to explore & develop ways to communicate more potently in our emerging cultures. It’s a good group to work for.
