Board of Directors: Round 2
Ok, they don't like us. Despite their claims to the contrary, this is a widely known fact. Fine, I can accept that. They don't have to like us, just treat us fair. Honestly, is that so much to ask of a RECREATIONAL softball league's board of directors, who SHOULD- in theory- be in it to help the girls? Is that really so much to ask? Evidently, the answer is a resounding 'YES.'
Really, I'm pissed. I've gotten over their shit in the past, most of which is documented in my previous board rant. This time, however, they've just gone too far, and I am absolutely sick of all the bullshit they pull. It gets progressively worse each year, and this year, they've thrown out the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.
This year, the wise and all knowing boardies initially decided that it would be intelligent to combine three age groups: 14-under, 16-u, and 18-u. Why? Because the 14's had too many girls, and not enough coaches. Besides, us 18's can't look after ourselves. Hey, just because many of us can drive, or have jobs, or take college classes in addition to high school, that sure as hell doesn't mean we are in any way shape or form responsible, right? Right- if you're a boardie. However, the division combining was something I was willing to get over. I can handle it- more teams to beat, right? Sure, I can be optimistic on rare occasion.
But the boardies topped themselves. They also decided that we would be playing quite a few games against another local league. Fun, yeah? Get to do a little travel (3 minutes down the freeway, right next to the college where I am taking a class in addition to high school... has that been mentioned? Gee, I believe so.) and play some new people and maybe make new friends. Oh, and we have to play by their rules. Now, I don't like to play by other peoples rules, but even more so when we're talking softball in Menifee. The board forced this on the 18-u last season too, and the Menifee rules are crap. You can't score more than 4 runs per inning, aside from open inning, which is once per game. Crazy drop dead time limit (as soon as it reaches like 1 hr 25, the game stops, no matter what). And, all their players are younger and a lot smaller. They don't make the same impact when they run into you, and it's not as fun to take them down. The cons outweigh the pros here, that's for sure.
But never underestimate the power of idiots in large groups! (Which of course, is synonymous with the boardies.) That's right, they've outdone themselves again! Now, the high and mighty hath decreed that no one over the age of 13 shall be able to play All Stars. Well, guess what Captain Obvious? I'm 17. Most of the people in what would have been my division are over 14. That's right- no All Stars for any of us! And, if for some insane reason anyone decided to stick around and play for this league, no 17-18's would be eligible to pitch. So there you have it: combined division, crappy rules, no pitching, no All Stars. To sum it up, we done been screwed over, commies.
Now, is there anyone out there (a boardie, perhaps?) who would care to try one more time to explain to me just how much you care about my division? Just how much you've done for us over the past few years? Just how much we truly mean to the league? Just how much you're truly committed to us? Hey, if anyone out there wants to argue for the boardies, please feel free to e-mail me.
Have a nice day, boardies, and keep a few things in mind: in losing the 14-18's, you will be losing close to $3,000. Sound good? And last and least, you're screwing your daughters over. Honestly, you tards, your kids are NOT that good. They WON'T all make High school, or travel, or whatnot. Then what? Hmm? After you've done your best to screw over the 14-18's, what do you do when your little brat wants to play, but you have no division? Keep that in mind.
