I am an artist living and working in Kimberley, Northern Cape South Africa, a historical city. We have the "Big Hole" open mine which was dug out by shovels and buckets in the diamond rush days. Many of the town‘s old buildings are historical monuments today.
I studied Graphic Design and today work fulltime as a Graphic Artist at a small design firm. We design mostly design logos and brochures for local clients
I used to work in acrylics, but recently started using oils, which I thoroughly enjoy. My paintings have been described as emotional, and that is what I try to accomplish.
I do not believe in symbolism and all that other nonsense which they teach you at art school. I think what a person sees in a painting is his or her own experience and view. I paint something that is pleasing to look at, but I also try to invoke some feeling in the viewer. I just place the objects in such a way on the canvas so that it is pleasing to look at and is balanced.
