Special envoy to Israel- Lebanese border demarcation And the implementation of the Security Council resolution 425. From: The people of Gahajjar village on the Lebanese - Syrian - Israeli borders. Dear M.r Larsen: We are the people of the Syrian occupied Gahajjar village, have been informed that the UN forces decioded to partition our village into two parts one in Lebanon and the other in Israel, not taking into considration the humanitarian, historical, and national aspects of such a decision which would separate most of us from our 11,500 dunoms of farm land, the main source of living for all of us and divide many families between two countries. Our village has been Syrian for hundred of years and we have official documents to prove that fact such as land ownership documents since 1901, Syrian identity cards, and Syrian bulding permits from 1955. All these was changed in 1967 and therefore only the U.N Security Council 242 applies to us and not resolution 425. We want you to know that if the decision to partition our village is carried out, we will lose our lands and become separated from each other even though we are one big extended family . Many of us will become refugees with our lands and that will not help us at all.. We appreciate your mission and the U.N role in solving problems , but separation from our lands would make death seem easier for us. Therefore, we want to inform the U.N.O that we will not let any U.N troops entre our village under any circmstance to demarcate any lines or borders at any time. If this happens, the results will be catastrofic for both sides as we will stop them by our bodies. We hope that we will not come to that end. We have been taught that the U.N is an organization founded for the solution of human beings problems and their unification as well as their basic humanitarian rights and not for their separation or for destroying their lives and their future. Again, we appreciate your peace mission and appreciate your understanding of our situation and hope you will find a better creative solution to this issue.
