THE FATE OF SOCIAL SECURITY
In 1982 a committee chaired by Alan Greenspan plagiarized a paper published by David Gaus. That paper was on Social Security demographics. An unfortunate situation was thus created which continues to influence events even today.
Social Security is mentioned a number of times on this web site. The reader may click at right to view aspects of our treatment of the subject that might seem of interest

STABILITY OF PREDATION
The somewhat predatory nature of the U.S. economy and political system and how that might decide the viability of Social Security.
Friendly, handsome David Gaus, shown above, is a Christian Deist.
Christian Deism was also the religion of George Washington, and Deism, a religion of the Enlightenment, was the religion of Gaus’s distant relative, Karl Gauss.
Karl Gauss was the third-greatest mathematician in history and helped invent the telegraph and telephone.
Before publishing his 1981 paper on Social Security demographics, friendly handsome David Gaus hadn't read much about the life of Karl Gauss. After his paper had been published (and plagiarized by national politiicians), David Gaus was surprised to learn that Karl Gauss had also produceded a notable paper about a retirement fund. Karl Gauss's paper was on the finances of a German teacher's pension fund. Some of Karl Gauss's other mathematical discoveries could be used today to help the Social Security system survive.
Photo of Gaus campaigning for Deism was taken on Monument Circle in Indianapolis by Mr. John Fleck.
