I'm already well into 2003, and the site needed MAJOR updating, especially since the "freeloading flying Dutchman" Ramon Stoppelenburg of Let-Me-Stay-for-a-Day (dot com) spent the last weekend at my place and put a link to this site in his reports! Where do I begin?? Life has been rather chaotic since starting university in September 2001. Not only did I keep my day job to finance my B.A. (Linguistics), but I volunteer more than before, and keep up my regular Sunday outings with the smallest members of the Canadian branch of the Edwin family. Melissa (3), Michael (2), and Madeleine (1) are growing like weeds and I have to keep up! Check out their progress in the latest photo albums. Here are some highlights from 2002: -- APR 17-MAY 6: visited England and Switzerland and a bit of France -- APR 16-JUL 11: my place was HQ for Iris Funck, a.k.a. Crazy Chicken #2, from Lubeck, Germany -- sometime MAY-JUL: my place was Homestay #2 for Christa Guntli, a.k.a. Crazy Chicken #1, from Buchs, Switzerland ** you guessed it, I'm Crazy Chicken #3, better known as Free-Range Chicken ** -- SEP: Labour Day weekend in San Francisco -- OCT: weekend break in Seattle -- NOV: Remembrance Day weekend in Calgary/Banff, a rather pivotal weekend -- I started dating Tyrone -- DEC: beginning of an expensive period of Tyrone and I flying back and forth between Calgary and Vancouver -- DEC 02/JAN 03: an action-packed week in New York City, finishing off 2002 by standing with half a million other people in Times Square (amidst high security) to watch the ball drop! Upcoming trips in 2003: -- APR 16-MAY 3: Europe! How's this for an itinerary: April 16-17 - Vancouver/Calgary-London (Air Transat) April 17 - London-Dublin (Ryanair) April 17-22 - Dublin/Cork/Shannon April 22 - Shannon-Brussels (Ryanair) April 22-25 - Brussels/Amsterdam April 25 - Brussels-(Milan) Bergamo (Ryanair) April 25-29 - Italian lakes district April 29-May 2 - Bergamo then north to Switzerland through Ticino to St. Gallen with the Swiss Chicken (Christa) and hopefully the German Chicken (Iris) May 2 - Zurich-London (Easyjet) May 3 - London-Vancouver (Air Transat) The European flights were SO CHEAP... London-Dublin was GBP 35, Shannon-Brussels EUR 60, Brussels-Bergamo EUR 30, Zurich-London was the cheapest at CHF 17.50 (less than $20!). How can one NOT go?? In the meantime, I am trying to keep my brain from revolting during my fifth consecutive term at SFU and the end of my fifth year working for ERA. As for this website, I am still nowhere near caught up -- I'm still adding photos to the 2002 albums as well as 2003, so watch this space! Cheerios from Gail |
