Spring Break 2003 Lumberton, NC with the Wesley Foundation |
This spring break, instead of sitting around at home and doing nothing, or hanging out by the beach, I went to "scenic" Lumberton, North Carolina, with the Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry group. Over the course of the week, the 10 students, with the help of alumni Darrell, and the campus pastor Laura Lee, built two wheelchair ramps for elderly families. Now, the trip wasn't just work, we did much much more. We attempted to soak up some sun at Myrtle Beach, but Mother Nature didn't cooperate, and by the end of our church service on the beach, we were all soaked and cold. For the rest of that day, we walked around "Broadway on the Beach," an outdoor mall in Myrtle Beach, and saw a movie. We attempted the beach thing again the following weekend at Virginia Beach, but a huge traffic jam kept us from the beach. So, we ended up at Busch Gardens, which was a blast anyway! Overall, it was a great week of service, good food (PB&J for lunch and restaurants for dinner each night), and lots of fun! Here are some pics of the trip! |
