In 1983 I saw Rush twice at Wembley. One night I had tickets in Row D, so, in a state of excitement, I took my camera along. Turned out I was in Row D of the back section, which was a major disappointment. Still, I took a couple of photos anyway, but they turned out as rubbish as I had expected so I discarded them. I found them again recently and, despite their total crapness, I realised I quite liked them as they reminded me of the gig. You may as well have a look. You can just about make Alex and Geddy out in one, and that’s definitely a Moving Pictures backdrop I can see in the other.

Rush at Wembley Arena - 1983

I had to include something on Rush after all, them being the greatest band in my own personal music history. I first saw them on May 4 1979 (my 18th birthday) and went on to see them many more times, including one night of the two legendary Bingley Hall dates later in ‘79. To compensate for the lack of quality in the photo department I’ve also included a some signed photos. In 1980 I saw them at Hammersmith again and Southampton Geaumont and on this tour I hung around by the stage door and the fans were allowed in to get autographs and have a brief chat if they were bold enough. I got 3 sets of autographs from 2 shows by going round twice at Hammy Odeon - and damn exciting it was too.
