Capcom Brings the Evil to Cube
Biohazard 0, Biohazard, Biohazard 2, Code Veronica and Biohazard 4 -- exclusive!

Still concerned that Nintendo's next-generation console is going to appeal only to the younger demographic? Third-party Capcom provided answers to the skeptics earlier today when it pledged its full support for GameCube. The company announced that it would bring versions of its highly touted Biohazard (Resident Evil) franchise exclusively to the console.

Shigeru Miyamoto was on-hand at the Japan-based press conference when Capcom's Shinji Mikami debuted Biohazard running in real-time on the hardware. To see the other feature complete with screenshots and movies, click here

Perhaps bigger news, though, Capcom announced that remakes of Biohazard and ports of Biohazard 2, Biohazard 3: Nemesis and Biohazard: Code Veronica would be released for GameCube exclusively. Additionally, the company said the upcoming Biohazard 4 would also arrive for Nintendo's next-generation console exclusively. Plus, the company will still bring Biohazard 0 to the console -- again, exclusively. Boom!

"The Biohazard series has slowly moved away from its origin of horror. What our users have supported over the years was this feeling of horror," said Capcom. "After much thought, we have decided to return to the beginning and start from one again."

The first game, Biohazard, which is under the direction of Shinji Mikami himself, will arrive March 22 in Japan with the others to follow.

The company further noted: "Because we don't want to force our users to have to buy many systems to play the Biohazard games, we've decided to focus on one console: GameCube."

Huge news and a major score for Nintendo as it targets a wider demographic for GameCube.
