This page is going to be an ongoing project, with updates on a semi_regular basis.  We will try to keep everyone updated on what we are doing, as we do it.
We began with this hobby with 4 young stags and very little information.  With alot of reseach, online, and a little help from our friends, we have learned a few tricks and made a few mistakes. Hopefully this page will help others new to the business to avoid some of our early mistakes
FEED

The first thing we needed to learn was that raising game cocks is totally different from raising regular barnyard chickens for egg laying.  Gamecocks are very delicate and require special feed combinations to satisfy their dietary needs, ordinary hen scratch will not do the job.
(For those of you who have been in the business for years, we apologize for this very basic information)

Our feed, at the present time (oct,2000),consists of a mix of alfalfa pellets, whole corn, milo, white peas, wheat, small sunflower seeds and a premix protein pellet.  The percent of protein will vary according to the need,i.e. breeding or training status of the individual bird.
TRAINING

At the current time we are in the breeding season, and therefore are mostly concerned with the health and status of our hens and breeder cocks.

Most of our flypens are currently holding our breeding pairs with nesting capabilities.  Although we have moved a few select stags into flypens to begin fight training.

After hatching out, the hens and their broods will be moved to individual pens (4 foot cubes) to allow the flypens to be put to actual fight training for the older stags and non-breeding cocks.  Currently we operate on a very small scale, with only 8 breeding pairs, but hope to expand in the next 5 years to approximatly 30.
At the present time, we are concentrating on continuing with the Camacho Hatch bloodline (5 pair currently breeding), and beginging with a new bloodline in Albany hatch (1 pair), as well as breeding a classy battle cross with the Dark Leiper Camachos to a Claret/Grey (currently 2 pair). This battle cross is very popular locally due to their speed and aggression.
