The Greatest Video Games - Revisited [Dusty Diamond's All Star Softball]
You Play Ball Like A Girl

Just Don't Tell Her The Uniform Makes Her Look Fat!

I have no idea who Dusty Diamond is but he’s cool enough to have a softball videogame named after him. This is a softball game in the format of old-school take turns picking your players and playing out in the school field or park. Each person has different abilities that are never given to you in number form. Players vary greatly in running speed, throwing power, pitching ability, and, of course, hitting. Some players are very unique like a witch named Zelda who uses her broom as a bat, Diablo who uses his pitchfork thingy as a bat, and I’m pretty sure there is some kind of construction worker as well. Once you have drafted your team you will play several other drafted teams from the vast pool of available players. If you manage to defeat all those teams you’ll have the honor of being completely demolished by the girls all-star team. Of course versus mode is also available.

Graphics: 3
The humorous cartoony graphics really suck…but you know, no worse than Bad News Baseball.
Playability: 5
This is a really weird game to play. I still haven’t figured out how to pitch in the game. Sometimes I’ll randomly throw a really wicked pitch and then my guy will suck for the rest of the game. Fielding isn’t much better. Guys will randomly start levitating 15 feet in the air and won’t be able to physically pick up the ball. The controls are responsive but the randomness will really throw you off.
Fun Factor: 7.5
This is probably the goofiest sports game I’ve ever played. Even though some of the game-play is beyond wacky and closer to ridiculous, the game is still a lot of fun to play. Everybody has their money players they secretly know to be absolute studs and this keeps the game interesting, especially in versus mode. 1 Player mode is fun until you have to play the girls team…prepare to get blasted. I’ve never even come close to beating them.
