| Dr Pinarbasi`s research interests are related to gas turbines and are specifically in the areas of centrifugal turbomachines and numerical studies. His experimental work on centrifugal compressors and pumps has improved the understanding of the complex 3-d flows which occur both within the impeller and diffuser of these machines. He has improved measurement techniques using the hot-wire anemometry on the compressor and pumps. He has already been working on the turbine pump at the Johns Hopkins University using the technique of PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry). |
