MY MOTHER WAS KILLED IN THE NAZI GASCHAMBERS IN AUSCHWITZ.
MY FATHER DIED IN WELS, AUSTRIA, A WEEK AFTER LIBERATION,
OF TYPHUS.
HE WAS AN INMATE OF THE CONCENTRATION-CAMP
OF MAUTHAUSEN.
MY MOTHER IS NOT BURIED;SHE WENT STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN IN THE SHAPE
OF THE HEAVY SMOKE ISSUING FROM THE NAZI
CREMATORIUM IN AUSCHWITZ.
THESE PAGES CONTAIN THE POETRY OF MRS. RACHEL FUERST WRITTEN IN THE
NAZI CONCENTRATION-CAMPS AUSCHWITZ, BERGEN-BELZEN AND OTHER SITES.
THE POEMS WERE TRANSLATED BY ME FROM THE HUNGARIAN INTO THE HEBREW.
