First, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to visit Cars Alive and I hope you enjoy it, thoroughly. And, please come back often, in that I will be constantly adding pictures of these, at least to some of us, Beautiful automobile cadavers.

You can rest assured that I will do my best to not "pontificate," but as I get older I tend to do just that.

To me, something about our American Heritage and/or Culture makes us unique, as opposed to the rest of this Planet's inhabitants, due to our storied, ongoing Love Affair with our Cars, Pickumups and, yes, even "riceburners."

Only American Iron will grace these pages, no bias or malice intended to Car Lovers, worldwide.

Surely, nearly everyone has a Father, Uncle, Brother, Sister or male or female neighbor or acquaintance, or theirselves, that has or has had a Love Affair with a car. I wonder, can some eminent, or otherwise, Psyciatrist explain in Layman's terms the Root Cause of this phenomena?

Personally, my lifelong Love Affair with cars began when I was about 12, in the mid-50'S. To be sure, I STILL have my magazine collection of Hot Rod, Rod & Custom, Car Craft, etc., from those days, to this very moment!

Some of the first cars around my hometown that excited most of the teen-aged boys were a '57' Bonneville with Fuel Injection (did ya even know they were produced?), a Gold Chrysler 300C with 2 4'S from the factory (Jim Kerr), a '58' Impala with a 348, 3 2'S and a 4 speed, from the factory (George Wheeler), 2 '60' Bonnevilles (George Wheeler & Donny Carey), a '61' Impala with a 348 and 3 2'S from the factory (John Dean, from Montrose), and a '63' Dodge with a 426 Hemi with 2 4'S, from the factory (Bob Green, from Binghamron), a 65 Comet Cyclone with a Black with White Bucket seat interior, a 289 cubic inch "Hi-Po" 271 Horsepower engine with 4 speed (Wayne Bradley), a Red & White 57 Fort droptop with a Continental Kit (Dave Vorozilchak), a white 59 Plymouth Sport Fury, which was Plymouth's first year with swivel bucket seats (Donny Carey), Larry Decker's Blue & White 57 Ford, 2 dr. sedan, with a 3 speed and a 312 engine, a Black 57 Ford Droptop (Jimmy Shimer), the Burgundy 64 SS with a 409, 425 horse with 4 speed and 2 X 4"S (Richard Jesse), a Black '63' Ford Galaxy, 406 Cubic Inches, 405 Horses, 4 speed (Wayne Bradley) and a '67 Vette, 427 Cubic Inches, 390 Horses and a 4 speed (Wayne Bradley), in which he & I did 160 MPH on Route 11, between Hallstead, Pa., and New Milford, Pa. Oh! and who can forget the chopped and channelled '32' Ford Roadster that Pete Schultz built in his backyard, on Union Street in New Milford, Pa., with a souped up Flathead, that Wayne Bradley, then Ike Armstrong subsequently owned. Wayne, as I recall, put a 265 Cubic Inch Chevy in it, which was Chevy's first OHV V8. Actually, this was the only "true" Hotrod in that area, back then.

I tell ya, ALL these cars were "supercool" and the owner's were like icons around town.

Over the years, I can remember countless conversations with friends, starting in my early teens, about our fantasy and desire to go "down South" or "out West," to find some vehicle such as those pictured herein, to bring back home and miraculously turn into a "head-turnin" StreetRod.

Sadly, to me, very few of us ever had ample time, or money, to see these dreams to fruition.

In fact, my '41' Chevy StreetRod was built by someone else, BUT I must say....I've invested many hours and many, many dollars in order for it to run and look as it does presently.

For those of you interested, the majority of these pictures were taken with a Sony Mavica FD-88 digital camera.

So, there you have it. I hope you enjoy, remember, tell the wife or girlfriend, husband or boyfriend, kids or grandchildren.

THE ONLY NEGATIVE COMMENT I WILL EVER MAKE ON THIS PAGE IS: I WOULD NEVER, NEVER BUY ANYTHING ELSE FROM SOUTHERN ROD'S IN GREER, SC... TOM, THE OWNER WOULD NOT EVEN DISCUSS THE DEFECTIVE A/C HE SOLD ME!!! AND, TO ME, THAT AIN'T NEGATIVE, IT'S POSITIVE!!!

Please come back often.

I gotta tell ya's two things right about now....1. I'm finding more cars for this Page all the time and, 2. This HTML gobbledygook is gonna have me on Prozac!

Just a couple of examples...The Edsel is just South of Charleston, SC., and the '55' Buick as well as the '61' Caddy and a couple others are in Bamberg, SC.

That '55' Buick, I'm thinking of trying to buy one of the tail-lights off it and making a Table Lamp!

As of May 31, 2002, This has been the extent of my efforts. I've kind of slacked off, looking for suitable cadavers, what with grandchildren, nice weather, etc. I WILL, however, seek, find and show you, the erstwhile viewer, more as time marches on!

I might add, for those of you familiar with New Milford and the days of the 50'S & 60'S, that it pains me to say that Marty (Owens) Randall passed away yesterday at 58. Marty was the wife of Richard for 39 years and, without doubt, was one of the "old gang," that will be sadly missed by many. Further, Billy Groover's Mother passed away, also, and Billy was a good friend back "in the day," too.
