Yes, I am pro-life...and very much so. I wasn't brought up to be, in fact the topic never came up during my childhood. Now, I know that my father is pro-choice, but my mother is very much pro-life (& so is my step-mother).
I remember being told once when I was either in 5th or 6th grade that if I ever got pregnant- I would be taken down to get an abortion...end of subject! I thought "Well, for one thing I won't have to worry about that, since I won't be getting pregnant any time soon & for another, there's absolutally no way I'd ever have an abortion!" I was 11 or 12 and I knew how I stood on the subject without being taught anything. It was as simple as that.
Now I know the topic of abortion is far from simple...and I'm even more against abortion. I know exactly how wrong it is, no matter the situation. I've had a few people tell me nothing is black & white; there are gray areas in the middle. That's true for most things, but on abortion-it's just plain wrong, no matter how you look at it.
I've given birth to a baby girl (Shaina) at 25 weeks gestation. That means she lived for 23 weeks. Do you know that in most states (including Oregon), women can go in and abort a baby that far along? It just makes me sick to my stomach.
Some pro-choice people believe that life begins when a baby takes it's first breath. That means Shaina wasn't a baby because she didn't have a chance to take a breath of air? That means all of our miscarried babies and stillborn babies never lived, weren't babies? Anyone that thinks like that needs a huge reality check!
I'd like to ask anyone who is pro-choice to take some time and visit their local pregnancy care center...watch a video or two...get some facts. Then see if your feelings are still just as strong about abortion being moral. Don't take my word for it...do your own reasearch-PLEASE!
