The Garda Mounted Unit and the Dog Unit have been drafted in to assist Coolock gardai in the fight against crime. Superintendent Noel McLoughlin said the units would carry out regular high visibility crime prevention patrols across the Northside over the next few weeks.
The specialist units will cooperate with police in tackling anti-social behaviour in public areas where people tend to congregate late at night. In an effort to combat this behaviour, the gardai in Coolock are urging member of the public to report any such behaviour in their communities.
