Master Jay Itow is a fourth degree black belt (Dan #28086) and is in the process of obtaining his Sa Bom (Master) certification. Coming in with a Hapkido background, he started his training of Tang Soo Do Soo Bahk Do in 1984, under Master Tommy Reyes Sr. at Gardena. He earned the rank of Cho Dan (first degree black belt) in 1988 and E Dan (second degree black belt) in 1991.

Master Itow is now the owner of the studio where he had spent so many years as a student.

Having over 15 years of teaching experience, Master Itow's goal as an instructor is simple: to have someone come in, learn, gain experience, and improve to the best of their potential.

He believes that martial arts training offers something to everyone. But that something may be different from person to person. Some people may prefer Ju Jitsu. Others, Shotokan. Still others, Kung Fu. In his opinion, Tang Soo Do's advantage is that it is both a hard and soft style that gives you the opportunity to develop everything. But that does not mean it is right for everyone or that it is a "better" style. Everyone is different and everyone has his own perception and needs. And you will not know if Tang Soo Do is right for you until you try it yourself.

Master Larry Drehs started his training in 1971 at the age of 19 under the guidance of Bob Alegria. Searching for something more spiritual and challenging than just thoughtless, methodical exercise, he had accompanied a friend to a martial arts studio in San Pedro and immediately became fascinated with the diverse techniques and mental training offered by Soo Bahk Do Tang Soo Do. It was not long after that visit that Master Drehs earned his Cho Dan rank (Dan #20592).

Along his martial arts career, Master Drehs has trained under Master Al Johnson, Master Tommy Reyes Sr., and Master Michael Reyes.

Master Drehs credits SBD TSD as helping him succeed both personally and professionally. Though he has over thirty years of training, Master Drehs still allows himself room to grow and learn as a martial artist. He sees himself as forever a student and is now training with Master Messersmith.
