The Garden Blethers Website The Cuttings Book - which will give a lot more detail Cuttings Diary - 2006 Unless stated otherwise, all have gone straight into an outside raised bed filled with ordinary garden soil, although the top layer - 2 inches or thereabouts - is a mix of sand (any sand will do but not from the beach as it will contain salt!) and multi-purpose compost. The raised bed is one made from wood, about 12 inches in height, and roughly 6 foot by 3 foot. April 21st Rosemary - (these are in a plastic ice-cream tub in the porch for a week or so before going outside) Buddleia - about 8 inches in length, cut just below a bud (bottom) and just above a bud (top) and then into the raised bed Mints - selection of - many had small roots attached, so individually into a pot of compost outside April 22nd Cotton Lavender (Santolina), Herb Thyme, Hypericum (polyphyllum), Golden Marjoram, selection of Sedums, Dianthus Deltiodes (Rockery Pinks), Phlox (Daniel's Cushoin), Cotula Hispida... May 1st Oregano, Saxifrage, Cerastium Tomentosum (Snow in Summer), Spearmint, Chocolate Mint, Ginger Mint, Fuchsia (Magellanica - the extremely hardy one).. May 6th Cotton Lavender, Phlox (Candy Stripes).. May 10th Selection of Hebes, Curry Plant ......and more of the same above More to follow.... (Tip: If a cutting should inexplicably die, simply remove and replace with another one! ) (Additional information re: seeds (April/May 2006): Seeds sown into seed trays and kept indoors (windowsill for about 2 weeks), then outside, and then into raised beds - as described above - until big enough to put into pots - Aubrieta, Rosemary, Sage, Oriental Poppy, Pansy, Gypsophilia, Parsley, Chamomile, Dianthus, Marigolds, Poached Egg plants, Coreopsis, Polyanthus, Fennel, Sweet Pea, Campanula, Lupin, Primula, Nasturtium, Dill, Saponaria, Honesty, Verbascum... I reviewed this page in July and quickly became aware that it hadn't been updated as regularly as I intended. That's gardening for you! Too busy just now. However all the plants from seeds and cuttings are doing well despite the poor Scottish summer - very wet this year. No problem from slugs at all. I have discovered the ultimate slug deterrent. Works %100 per cent. If you want the ultimate slug deterrent give me an e-mail (put "slug deterrent" in the subject box please and I gaurantee to answer - otherwise it may be deleted as 'spam'.
