That's me, on the left so you get an idea of who is explaining this trip. This was taken at Kaledeo, a world famous bird sanctuary in India. This is how we spent December 9, 2000 through Jan 4, 2001. We traveled about 24,000 miles roundtrip. San Jose to Los Angeles, to Tokyo (refuel), to Bangkok (sleep at the Amari Hotel), to Kathmandu (begin trip). Kathmandu to Pokara via Buddah Air. Go trekking. Pokara to Kathmandu, to Dehli, to Agra (Taj Mahal) to Jaipur (Camel Safari), back to Dehli and then home. The above map is what our trip looks like from my GPS program. Our trip consisted of my family of 5 (three children 16, 15 and 10), a family of four (2 children 9 and 11) and a few more adults and one other child (14) for a total of 14 people. If you get the idea it was a trip centered around kids you are right. This didn't stop us from averaging about 5-8 miles a day and a minimum of 2,000 ft of elevation change and usually more. In addition we had roughly 2 additional helpers for every one of us. It took a support team of about 28, which consisted of Sherpas (who were the guides), Cooks and cook helpers, and porters, who did the really hard work. The following was our plan: Kathmandu for 2 days Pokhara for 2 days Trekking in the Annapurna range for 12 days Kathmandu for 2 days Leave for India Delhi for a day Agra (Taj Mahal) for 2 days Camel safari for 4 days Kaledeo Bird Sanctuary for 2 days Leave for home.
