I was looking thru a 4x4 book and noticed this add for "the ultimate sport handle". It had a web address to goto to order them. I thought they would be a really nice addition to my Jeep so I inquired about them. Much to my dissapointment I found that they were $29.99 a piece. (way to much for silly little handles) The next step was to goto the local fabic store and see if I could find the same materials to make them myself. I was very happy to find that they had what I needed and it would cost me only $20.00 to make all five. So here is a list of things needed to do it yourself!!
Things needed
7 yards 2" nylon strap ($12.53)
2 yards 2" velcro hook ($3.96)
2 yards 2" velcro loop ($3.96)
2 1/2 feet 1/2" rubber hose ($1.78)
Cut the strap into the pieces needed (10 at 18inches and 5 at 14inches). After cutting it melt the ends of the strap with a lighter so it doesn't fray. Now cut the velcro (10 at 6inches) Then cut the hose (5 at 6inches) Next take the 14inch straps and feed them thru the 6inch hoses (like above) You might want to tie a string around the end of the stap to make this easier!!
Next sew the ends of the 14inch strap to aproximatly 3 inches from the end of the 18inch strap (see above) Make an X with the stitching for strength. Do the same for the other side. You now have to sew the velcro onto the 18 inch straps. The hook side of the velcro goes on the far side of the 18inch strap flush with the end. The loop side of the velcro is placed about 3inches from the end of the 18inch strap opposite the "X" stitching. (you might want to check where to place of the loop section of velcro by test fitting the handle to your roll bar) The end result is a very strong (I hung from one) good looking handle!!!
