The opening statement I wrote, and then read during my court case on the 3rd of February, 2000, when the members of the San Diego ISKCON Hare Krsna Temple administration tried to have a restraining order granted, which would have restricted me from going anywhere within 100 yards of the San Diego ISKCON Hare Krsna Temple property:
First of all, before I begin, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the court, for utilizing your valuable time to assist us with this attempt to resolve a long standing, internal dispute, which, as I'm sure you will all, soon come too see, could have been, so easily resolved several years ago, had we all just endeavored to make a much greater effort to, simply, open a line of communication.
Second of all, I would like to thank the court for so kindly providing us with such an excellent, controlled environment, which we have undoubtedly, so desperately needed, for so long, to effectively deal with this matter, and that will surely prove to serve as a perfect forum for helping us reach a mutually beneficial resolution to this long-standing dispute, because at long last, we will all surely, be awarded the opportunity to finally, effectively and accurately, communicate our positions in this conflict, in a peaceful manner, and in an organized fashion. This, at least, is my sincere aspiration.
Thirdly, I would like to offer my sincerest, heartfelt apologies, to my respected adversaries, who, I admit, are deservedly, well recognized for their extensive, and quite often, even exemplary, devotional activities in their service to God throughout the entire Vaisnava Community, otherwise referred to as the International Society for Krsna Consciousness, and more commonly known widely, as the Hare Krsna Movement, for anything I have ever said or done that I really shouldn't have. I truly am, very sorry.
And finally, for the record, I would just like to reiterate and further emphasize the fact implied in my previous statements, that my sole aim, in presently appearing before this court today, is to see if there isn't any way, we can't possibly, reach a resolution of our differences, rather than, drastically resorting to my esteemed adversary's, proposed, devastating dissolution of our relationship, which is, definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, more important to me than anything else in the world.
According to the philosophy of Krsna consciousness, as outlined in the scriptures, explained by the spiritual masters in a line of disciplic succession, which began with God, and confirmed by all the saintly persons who have appeared throughout history, we all have an eternal and loving relationship with one and other. This means, that we were all, eternally, friends in the past, nay, not just friends, but family, no less, and that, in the not so distant future, it will be so again. This is an indisputable fact, and the only thing that, presently prevents us from our perceiving this, during the interim state, is undeniably, nothing more than an extremely cruel, ruthless and ficticious, gross illusion. Therefore, the way I figure it, the sooner we all, conclusively, reach this realization, and in the spirit of cooperation, strive for an expedient reconciliation, the better.
Thank you very much.
