Intro...
Earthworm Jim fist emerged into being during 1994 on the SNES and MegaDrive. It was shiny entertainment's first ever game. Jim has since been released on various other platforms, and even has his own cartoon! This remake for the GameBoy Advance is actually a port of the original, which may be a dissapointment to owners of the first title, but newcomers will definanty find this an apealing title.

Gameplay
Rarely has a video game been put together with such humour. Every wacky character and level is a pleaseure to explore. Using his strechy head as a whip or a propeller, and having his trusty plasma gun at hand, Jim blasts his way through seven areas. There are heaps of puzzles to solve including catapulting cows, riding hampsters, racing asteroids, plus more mad contraptions to be solved and crazy stuff to be done. Thoughout the environments you will meet up with a heap of insanely evil characters like the bungee-jumping Major Mucus, Professor Monkey For A Head, the evil Queen Pulsating, Festering, Puss-Filled, Slug For A Butt, and more.
Unfortunately, however, this game does have a fairly major downer. Being a direct port of the origional Earthworm Jim, older gamers may find it too familiar to really be enjoyable. Also this game lacks in any sort of save, (even the dreaded Password Save would have been better than nothing) so you will have to start the game afresh each time. Basically, only the sheer genious of the gameplay keeps this game afloat.

Graphics
With probably the liveliest backgrounds I've seen on an previous GameBoy Advance titles and the beutifully animated antics of our slimy friend, this game holds up quite well. You'll be amazed at the amount of frames Earthworm Jim has! Just a few flaws that I could find, some times things can be a little hard to make out. Also, in some of the darker levels, the GameBoy Advance screen proves a bit too small to be practical.

Sound
There are some pretty cool sound effects that accompany the action nicely. Music is okay but can be repetative at times. It occasionally cuts out comically.
Controls
Controlls are excellent. Personally, I could find no flaws. They are quick and responisive, which is just right for a game of this genre. They take no getting used to, being very instinctive, and they make good use of all of the buttons.

Final Comments
This game has fantastic, fun filled action that'll have you laughing all the way to the boss. But the lack of extras let this game down hugely. With no save at all or no multiplayer support you can't help but wonder if the Shiny team got a bit lazy.
