At first impression, I thought this game was phenominal. The graphics were pretty darn incredible (I hadn't seen better at the time) and I really caught a sort of "Mario-Parody" vibe from the introductory video. I instantly became familiar with Wario.

Well what can I say? Platforming bliss! Also, Wario is alot more physical than his goody-two-shoes rival Mario. For instance, Wario punches and tackles things as well as jumping on them. Another difference of Wario from Mario is that he doesn't get power-ups my touching them, he gets stung by bees and swells up. This causes him to float about. It's really funny, but after a while it starts to be a bother when you don't get stung on purpose. What also stood out to me as a real bonus was that at the end of levels, you had to jump on a switch which activated a timer. If you didn't get back to the beginning of the level before time was up, you'de start losing coins. When you have no coins left, you can say "adios" to all the money and items you collected in the level and you'll have to start the level over. A great addition.

I think Warioland 4 looks great! Even though the graphics aren't the best, the sprite animation is very fluent and just plain good-looking. The backgrounds are often animated, with things such as rain and lava. Very colourful and fun to look at.

The sound in this game is really great. First off, the sound effects really suit the actions of Wario in the 20 levels of the game. The various "Oh no!" and "Yeah!" effects that utter from Wario are quite funny. The music isn't as good as the sound effects, but it does the job.

The controls in this game are a little too complicated, but have no fear, the first level is divoted to the user getting used to all the various attacks that Wario can do. The controls work with A making Wario jump, B making Wario knock the lights out of his enemies and R to run. It doesn't take a rocket-scientist to understand the controls, but there are combinations of buttons that equate moves. The controls in Warioland 4 make the game very fluent and fun.

I have finished the game and at the end I was disappointed at the length of it. I flew through 20 levels in less than a week. This is definitly a "rent" game. The game is a fun yet short trip through the life of a rude and crude treasure longing Wario. 8/10.
