The horror. The civilized world stopped dead in its tracks at the horror Tuesday. The images flashed across our television screens were almost beyond comprehension. The pain, the suffering, stretched way beyond New York and Washington, D.C., stretched beyond the shores of the United States, past the borders of Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Russia, Germany, France -- to every part of the world where true civilization has taken hold. It devastated us all. The horror. As we slowly began to realize the lives of loved ones and friends, forever gone, wrenched from us by a madman, evil incarnate. The use of our innocent people as instruments of destruction of thousands of other innocents. The devastation was beyond belief, direct hits to our financial system, our military. Direct hits to the lives of countless families across the world. Direct hits to our way of life. The horror. Slowly turned to pride, as we watched our people, bloodied but strong, come together, each doing what we could -- giving blood, money, comfort to those who had lost loved ones, praying, watching those ignoring hunger and tiredness to keep working, desperately, risking lives in the search for survivors. We came together into one Great Nation, a nation that stretches across the world. Our differences forgotten, working together, a common goal, united as never before. The horror. Will never leave us, but it will not defeat us. We are strong, we are united, we are the Civilized World, and we will not bow to terrorism. The sleeping dragon has been awaken, and it will fight the horror until the horror is no more.
*gently sets aside the posters....ribbons...candles and other monuments to the horrible tragedy that has happened the first of the week....sapphire eyes mist up as she searches for words scrambled they come out*...this girls heart breaks with her nation....she lost her cousin in his heroic effort to save others...he made the ultimate saccrifice and this girl waits to meet him in heaven...this is not a time to fight but to stand united..praying to Whomever Y/you beleive in...this tragedy has not just happened to New York/Washington....the United States...the whole world bleeds from this agonizing blow...this girl is in SmallTown Texas and she has and unhealthy obsession with the news...the events keeping her awake with the smallest tidbits...she feels fear when leaving her Home....it is ridiculous...but this will not break our nation...if anything it has strengthened us and our heart beats proudly with each ripple of our flag...with each Hero in our hearts...with each sign in our windows....so many patriotic songs capture our hearts these days.....but five words ring true to my heart "Proud to be an American" I found this and though it inspirational....
