Brafford Cemetery Located on Williamsport Mt. It is off the road that goes to Twin Mt and down over the side of the Mountain. There are only two graves with stones: Mother: Sallie E Berry. (She was in the 1910 Census living in the home of Philip O Bosley as his mother-in-law. She was a widow 89 yrs old. She had given birth to nine children with five of them still living. So far I have not been able to find any info on her. Florence Gray was the wife of Philip O Bosley. I have been told she raised Caroline Gray who married James Brafford, Jr. But I really believe that she was the mother of Caroline.) Dottie's notes are in ( ). The other monument was Mary S Gillaspie 1886-1930. (She was the daughter of Philip and Florence Bosley and still living at home in 1910. She married Isadore T Gillaspie. There were around 12-14 unmarked graves. (Land transactions lead us to believe that James Brafford Sr. owned land in this area. So we can assume that James Brafford, Sr and his second wife are buried in this cemetery in unmarked graves. Plus two of their sons. This cemetery is known as the Brafford cemetery by the older Braffords. And the Brafford family lived in this area against Williamsport, WV Mountain. James Brafford died just two days before his wife Ketarah/Kittona. He died of measles at the age of 72 yrs. He died June 6, 1882 in Grant County, WV. His wife Ketarah, the daughter of Henry and Sarah Ellifritz Liller died Jun 8, 1882 in Grant Co at the age of 45 yr. Liller genealogy leads us to believe that her name was Helen Ketarah. Also two of their sons died of Diptheria. Elijah J Brafford died Mar 1, 1877 in Grant Co. His brother Isaac W Brafford died Mar 3, 1877 in Grant Co Elijah J was 11 yrs and 2 month and Isaac was 8 yrs old) Submitted by Dottie Hughes! |
