Deed of Edward Williams This Deed, made this 20th day of September in the year 1871. Between Edward Williams of the 1st part and Isaac Day, Isaac Patch, Safayette Smith and Snowden Feaster, who constitute the Board of Education of the Township of Grant, Grant County, State of West Virginia of the second part; Witness that in consideration of fifty Dollars (50.00) the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the parties of the first part do grant unto the parties of the second part and to their successors in office, for educational purposes all of a certain piece or parcel of ground or land situated on Edward William’s land near the Petersburg and Pattersons Creek Turnpike, in school district No. 2, in the Township of Grant, in the County and State aforesaid described as follows: Beginning at a stake near the road thence S. 74 ½ degrees E 11 poles to a stake thence N 25 ½ degrees E 7 ½ poles to a stake N 74 ½ degrees W 11 poles to a white oak stump and dogwood sprout near the road, thence S 25 ½ degree W 7 ½ poles to the beginning. Containing 80 poles more or less. To have and to hold unto the said Isaac Patch, Isaac Day, Safayette Smith and Snowden Feaster and to their successors in office forever, for the purposes aforesaid, the above described piece or parcel of land, with all and singular the appurtenances thereto belonging with covenant of general warranty. Witness the following signatures and seals Edward Williams State of West Virginia Grant County to wit; This day personally appeared before me in my office Edward Williams and presented and signed and acknowledged this deed dated September 20th 1871, and do me to certify the said acknowledgement to recorder of aforesaid County that he has willingly signed and acknowledged the same.
