Ettle Cemetery Info gathered from the genealogy records of Ruth & Twila Hesse: Travel 1/4 mile on the Jordan Run Road from Rt 42.. Turn right at the first road leading off. The distance from here is about 5 miles. The last 3 miles are very mountaineous. Located on the Vernice Hipp property. The view is breathtaking. Nearby are traces off the foundation of the Ettle home. This mountain farm is owned by Vernice Hipp. We found the cemetery fenced in and with beautiful momuments of marble. The graves are in fair condition. We noted as is usual in most cemeteries the marker bearing the oldest date to be that of an infant. Two graves had only field stones for markers. Surely God dwelleth in this magnificant spot. We were impressed by the inscription on the infants marker which read: Kathran Ettle mar 28, 1877 - Mar 29, 1877 A little bud of love To bloom with God above." |
