Henry Hesse was born 16 Jan 1816 in Germany.  He was one of the first settlers at Myerstown and later established a home in the Dutch Hill area with his wife who was Christinia Lyon.  Following the birth of two daughters; Elziabeth and Sena, two sons; William and Augustus were born.    The two small sons died because of flux.  They were taken upon the hillside a short distance from the home and buried.  The was the beginning of the Hesse Family Cemetery.  Five more members were added later.  Also a family friend, Billy Pfyer, who was born in Germany was buried here.  Inscription on his monument reads, "Requics cant in pace. Amen"   Henry Hesse Jr. married Gertrude Becker.
