Deed for Knobley School House Book 1; page 298 This Deed made this 12th day of September in the year 1866 between William George of the first part and Ferdinand Lewis, Samuel Babb and Samuel Rinehart, and J. L. Babb elect, who constitute the Board of Education in the township of Grant in Grant County, state of West Virginia of the second part: That in consideration of one dollar, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the party of the first part doth grant unto the parties of the second part, and to their successors in office, for education purposed all of a certain piece of parcel of land situated on the farm of Wm. George near his house on the west side of the Knobley road in Grant township in the County and State aforesaid, described as follows. Beginning at a chestnut thence N 351/4 E 10 poles to the stake thence N 54 ¾ W 8 poles to a dogwood and gum tree thence 35 ¼ W. 10 poles to a pine, thence 54 ¾ E 8 poles to the beginning situated in School District No. 1 of said Township, containing eighty poles more or less- to have and to hold unto the said Ferdinand Lewis, Samuel Babb, Samuel Rinehart and Jno L. Babb and to their successors in office forever, for the purposes a foresaid, the above described piece or parcel of land, with all and singular the appurtenances thereto, belonging with covenant of general warranty.
