Michael Likin Cemetery

Surveyed by Dottie Hughes on June 06, 2001

This cemetery is located a little over a mile south of the Knobley Church and Cemetery and is west of the Knobley road on top of a hill. It is on the property of Glenn and Doris "Cookie" Lyons. About half way up the hill from the Arthur Michael place, where Bill and Marion Marshall live today (2002) and to the west of the road on the hill. There was only one flat monument that we could find that had any writing on the rocks.

Down from this cemetery closer to the road is the area where Dick Michael pointed out to Rev. Franklin Bishop where James Likins Sr. was buried in an unmarked grave. May Harris had also shared with me that he was buried along Knobley in an unmarked grave but I was never sure of the location until Rev. Bishop showed me. James Likins Sr. born January 14, 1815, Hardy County, died February 16, 1844, Grant County, WV. James was the son of Michael Likin and Hannah Rotruck.

This information was copied from the one lone flat rock monument as they had written it:

Michael Likin

Was born Dec, the 18th 1785 and Died Jan, the 28th 1842.
