Perry Ronald Evans Sr., 83 of Augusta, WV, died Monday, July 20, 1998 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester VA.

Born September 19, 1914, in Martin, WV, Grant County, he was the son of the late Elmer C. Evans and Myrtle
E. (Rotruck) Evans. He was also preceded by his first wife, Mary Ferrebee in 1966; and his second wife, Agnes Payne, in 1978.

Mr. Evans was a carpenter. During World War II, he worked building Liberty Ships. He was a member of the Augusta Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are his wife, Georgia Gilbert Evans; three sons, Ronald "Ron" Evans, Upperville, VA, Thomas "Tom" Evans, New Windsor, MD, and Furman Evans, Bunker Hill, WV; two daughters, Ramona Evans Wright, Woodbine, MD, and Darlene Evans Elmore, Eldersburg, MD; four step-sons, Marvin Payne, Glen Burnie, MD, Michael Miller, Pasadena, MD, Robert Miller, Brooklyn, MD, and Wayne Miller, Slanesville, WV; one step-daughter, Sharon Mangum, Oakland, MD; two sisters, Freda Bonner, Oakland, MD, and Wanda Baer, Fountain, WV; seven step-grandchildren; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Augusta Assembly of God Church on Friday, July 24 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Phares officiating.

Interment will be in the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville WV

Freda Lucille (Lewis) Eye, 81, of Tucker County, died April 20,2002  at her home.

Born Jan. 21, 1921, at Pierce, she was the daughter of the late James H. Lewis and Edna A. (Blamble) Lewis.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn D. Eye, Aug. 14, 1979.

She is survived by two sons, Sherman J. Eye of Porterwood and Jerrel S. Eye of Brighton, Colo.; five brothers, Roy Lewis and Rufus Lewis, both of Horseshoe Run, Elbert Lewis and Albert Lewis, both of Aurora, and Rollin Lewis of Lancaster, Pa.; one sister, Alma Brake of Petersburg; four grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and three great-grandchildren: and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were April 23, at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home, Parsons, with interment in the Parsons City Cemetery, Parsons.

Kathleen Rebecca Elza, 74, Petersburg, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001 at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Mrs. Elza was born March 12, 1927, in Petersburg and was a daughter of the late John Swick and Stella Iman.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren.

She was preceded in death by her second husband, Lafayette Hall Elza, who died April 10, 1987.

Survivors include her first husband, Afred Ellifritz, Baltimore, MD; a friend and companion, Benny Caton, Petersburg, seven daughters, Charlotte Mullins and Carol Ellifritz, both of Petersburg;, Annalee Self, Burlington, Trela Kay Marmen, Connie Westscott and Toni Westscott, all of Baltimore, MD and Barbara Sponaugle, Circleville; one son, Jerry Ellifritz, Baltimore, MD; three sisters Irene Nelson, Ridgely, LeeAnna Crawford and Evelyn Wratchford both of Petersburg; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Alfred Charles Ellifritz; two brothers, George Swick and Elvin Swick and three sisters, Dorsey Cain, Virginia Swick and Elizabeth Phillips.

Rev. Stanley Kile conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home. Burial followed at the North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton.

Roy S. Evans, 79 of Old Orchard Drive, Keyser died Thursday, June 17, 1999 at his home.

Born August 07, 1919 in Greenland Gap, WV, he was a son of the late Benjamin H. and Maude (Lemon) Evans.

He was also preceded in death by his wife Marguerite G. (Kight) Evans; a sister, Jesse Evans, a brother, Dale Evans; and a grandson, Jeffery L. Evans.

Mr. Evans was a skilled craftsman and retired from Westvaco in 1985 after 38 years in the maintenance department.

He was also a highly decorated veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army and Army Air Corps from 1939 to 1945 in the European and Pacific Theaters.

Mr. Evans was a Past Commander and life member of American Legion Post 52, Piedmont, WV and a member of Queens Point VFW post 6775, McCoole, Maryland.

He was an active member of the Piedmont Presbyterian Church.  He is survived by a sister, Mae Deberry of Oakland, Maryland, two sons, Danny J. and wife Joan of Keyser, and Wayde S. and wife Lori of Dawson, Maryland, a daughter, Margaret I. Summers and husband James of Keyser, five grandchildren, Heather (Summers) VanSickle, Jeremiah Summers, Christopher Evans, Timothy Evans, and Sarah Evans and a great grandson, Jonathan Evans.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Boal Funeral Home in Westernport on Sunday, June 20, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Harry Coleman and the Rev. John Walker officiating.

Interment will be in the Rest Lawn Memorial Cemetery on Cash Valley Road, LaVale, Maryland.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.n. Saturday.

Velma Mae (Simmons) Evans, 80 of Petersburg, died Wednesday, February 07, 1901 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Virginia.

Born October 15, 1920, in rig, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Mabel Virginia (Barr) Simmons. 
She was also preceded in death my her husband, Vincent D. Evans, August 17, 1998; two brothers, Evers
“Fred” Simmons and Glade “Bernie” Simmons; and one nephew, R. Craig See.

Mrs. Evans was a member of the Potomac Valley Baptist Church, Maysville.  She retired from the Grant
County Board of Education at the Dorcas Grade School.  She was a cook for several years.

She is survived by two sons, Delegate Allen V. Evans and wife, Beverly, of Dorcas, and Bruce S. Evans and wife Elinor, of Beverly, one sister, Elva See of Ridgeley; two brothrs, Rolland “Dump” Simmons of Durgon,
and Elmo “Joby” Simmons of Old Fields; two grandchildren, Allison L. (Evans) Wood of Wheeling, and R. Dawn Hale of Elkins; one foster grandson, Ricky Cooper of Purgitsville; and a special friend, Hazel Haenftling of Ridgeley.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon, at the Schaeffer Funeral Hoe chapel, Petersburg, with Pastor Ted Anderson officiating; Interment was in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, WV.

Anna Jean Evans, 74, of Scherr, WV died on Thursday, September 27, 2001 at Dawn View Center, Fort Ashby, WV

Jean was born August 01, 1927 at Greenland, WV.  She is the only child of the late Haven F and Jessie O. (Kessel) Evans.  She was Presbyterian by faith.

Jean was a graduate of Petersburg High School class of 1946.  She has been a resident of Scherr since 1943 where she was the engaged in operation of the Evan’s General Store and the Scherr, WV United States Post Office.  “Jesse and Jean’s Store” has been an institution in that region of Grant County for nearly 60 years where neighbors, Friends, customers and travelers alike always found cheerful service and friendly smiles.

She is survived by many cousins including Grant Edward Kimble who resided with her and has been her strong right arm in operation of the General Store.

Friends will be received at the Shaeffer Funeral Home, 1 N. Main Street, Petersburg, WV at 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday September 29th.  Funeral Home in Petersburg at 1 p.m. on Sunday September 30th.  Interment will be in the Maysville, WV Cemetery.

Glenn Kenton “Bud” Evans, 79, of Maysville, died Thursday, February –7, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, after a long illness.
Born January 27, 1923, in Jordan Run, he was the son of the late Evers and Dottie (Arbogast) Evans. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Emil Evans and one sister, Helen Teter.

Mr. Evans was a lifelong farmer and retired from Allegheny Mining in 1978, where he operated heavy equipment. He was a member of the Brick Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clarice (Phares) Evans; one daughter, Carole Smith of Arthur, one son, Tom Evans of Maysville; one sister Lea Teter of Maysville; three brothers, Leo Evans and Gene Evans, both of Maysville and colon Evans of Rig, six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with the Rev. Robert Spaid and the Rev. Paul Donaldson officiating. Interment was in the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.

Leo G. “Bill” Ebert, 76 of New Creek, died Saturday July 01, 1995 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland.

Born March 29, 1919 at Laurel Dale, he was the son of the late George and Marie (Hanlin) Ebert.

Mr. Ebert was a retired welder with the Westvaco Corporation with 33 years of service and a retired farmer.  He was a member of the Oak Dale Church of the Brethren Scherr.

Surviving is his wife, Mildred V. (Evans) Ebert; two sons, Ernest G. and Gary I. Ebert, both of New Creek; two sisters, Dorothy Staggs of Burlington and Grace Muntzing of Maysville and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday afternoon, July 03 at the Oak Dale Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Herman Baliles and Mr. Abraham Evans officiating.  Interment was in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.

Gabriel W. Evans, 62 died Wednesday afternoon at the home of Dr. H. L. Gamble where he had been visiting for nearly a week.

Mr. Evans had gone to the home of cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bosley in Flats on Tuesday, and while there, he suffered a severe stroke of paralysis. He had slight stokes on two former occasions.  Later in the evening he was brought back to Moorefield and died the next day.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at Knobley Church by Rev. Earle Fike and interment in the Knobley Cemetery.  Mr. Evans is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bertie Liller; two daughters, Miss Ruth Evans of Moorefield and Miss Mary Evans of Martin; six sons, Haven, Greenland; David, Paul, Robert, Brooke, and Donald Evans all of Martin; four grandchildren and a half-sister.  Mrs. James Rogers of near Keyser.

Annie E. Evans, 68 of Oakland, Maryland, died Tuesday, July 21 1992 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital

Born January 14, 1924 in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward P. and Dorothy (Sherman) Goldizen.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Evans in March and one brother Paul Goldizen.

She was a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren.

Survivors include two daughters, Dottie Rohrbaugh, Oakland.  Shirley Grove, Winchester, Virginia; two sons, Richard W. Evans, Gary E. Evans, both of Oakland; one sister Wanda Nesselrodt, Keyser; one half sister, Nellie Carr, Scherr; three brothers, Charles Goldizen, Arthur, Delmes Goldizen, Maysville and Osa Goldizen, Winchester, Virginia; 15 grandchildren and 18 great –grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at the Fairview Church of the Brethren by the Rev. David Moon.  Interment was in the Evans Family Cemetery, Maysville       

The family requests that memorials take the form of donations to the American cancer Society or the Fairview Church of the Brethren.

Elva Scottie “Bunk” Evans, 88, a resident of the Long Term Care Unit in Romney, formerly of Keyser, died Thursday October 21, 1993 at the Long Term care Unit.

Born June 24, 1905 in Lahmansville, WV, he was the son of the late Price Oliver and Armedia C. (Smith) Evans.

Evans was retired from the Celanese Amcelle Plant with 28 years of service and was also formerly employed
as a coal miner.  He was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include three sons, Oliver Franklin Evans, Keyser; Clarence Hubert Evans, Hanover, PA; Douglas Swisher Evans, Ranson, WV; one daughter, Dorothy Jean Clark, Hampstead, Maryland; one brother, Robert Lee Evans, Winchester; four sisters, Helen Arbutus Spurling and Helen Arbutus Albert; both of Keyser; Martha Thelma Twigg, Cumberland; Edith Thelma Jackson, Montreal, MO; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Rotruck-Smith funeral Home, Keyser.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Funeral Home chapel. 

Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

April 18, 1969: Mineral Resident killed in Grant Highway Accident:

A New Creek woman was killed and another injured Friday in a head on collision north of Petersburg on West Virginia Route 42.

Fatally injured was Mrs. Ethel Emily Evans, 63, driver of one of the cars.

Injured was
Miss Reva Jean Bible, 21 of Arthur, driver of the other vehicle, who was hospitalized with a fractured leg and lacerations of the leg.  Miss Bible was taken to Grant Memorial Hospital at Petersburg and transferred by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Cumberland.

West Virginia State Police, Trouper C R. Burner said that Miss Bible was traveling south toward Petersburg when she passed another vehicle on a curve and crashed head on into the car operated by Mrs. Evans, traveling north.

Mrs. Evans was a retired postmaster, serving at the Greenland, WV facility until it closed.

A native of Grant County, she was born July 30, 1905, a daughter of Cecil Feaster of Petersburg and the late Sylvia (Rexrode) Feaster; her husband Minor B. Evans died in 1955.   

Besides her father, she is survived by her stepmother, Julia (Alt) Feaster; a daughter Mrs. Garry Hammer of Oxon Hill, Maryland; two sons. James A Evans of New Creek and Junior B. Evans Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida; three sisters, Mrs. Ray Davis of Gettysburg, PA, Mrs. Carl Shobe of Petersburg and her twin sister, Mrs. Nettie Marple of Keyser; three brothers, Emmett Feaster of Alexandria Virginia and Glenville and Carl Feaster of
Antioch and eight grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today at the Brick Church of the Brethren, Maysville by Revs. Herman Turner and Bernard Rollins; interment was in Greenland Cemetery under directions of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg where friends were received.

Jessie Victoria Evans, 71, of Oakland, Maryland and formerly of Scherr, died Thursday January 02, 1997 at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, where she had been a resident since April 1987

Born February 25, 1925, at Scherr, she was the late Benjamin Harrison and Maude Victoria Evans.  She was also receded in death my one brother, Lawrence Dale Evans.

Miss Evans was a member of the Oak Dale Church of the Brethren at Scherr.

Surviving is one brother, Roy S. Evans of Keyser; one sister, Mae DeBerry of Oakland; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Monday afternoon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg with the Rev. Harold D. Garber, officiating.  Interment was in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.

Burton M. Evans, 91, of 50 S. Water St. Keyser, died Friday July 18, 1980 at Potomac Valley Hospital.

Born May 04, 1889 in Scherr, he was a son of the late Solomon and Addie (Bosley) Evans.

Mr. Evans was a former Grant County schoolteacher.  He was operator of general merchandise stores at Hartmansville and in Keyser.

He was a member of the Keyser Church of the Brethren and Boyce Houser Post 41 American Legion.  Evans was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving is his wife, Mamie E. (Amtower) Evans; two sons, Burton M. Evans Jr. of Akron, Ohio and Charles W. Evans of Philadelphia, PA; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Interment in Maysville Cemetery.

Amos Clarence Evans, 87, Scherr, died Friday morning August 12, 1966 at the Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg following a lingering illness.

Born in Grant County January 10, 1879, he was a son of the late Saul and Hattie (Bosley) Evans; his wife, Hattie (Burgess) Evans, died January 04, 1962.

Surviving are two sons, Floyd Evans of Scherr and Arlie Evans of Beryl; three sisters, Mrs. Justine Schell of Maysville, Mrs. Essie Martin of Petersburg and Mrs. Bertha Amtower of New Creek; a brother Burton Evans of here; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 3 p.m. yesterday at Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg by Rev. Herman Turner.  Interment was in Maysville cemetery.

Tracey James Evans, 60 died Wednesday night October 27, 1971 at his home at Oakdale, three miles north of Scherr.  He had been in ill health for several years and retired early from his teaching position at Petersburg High School.

Mr. Evans was the son of the late James G. and Arena (Becker) Evans.

He was a member of the Oakdale Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are his widow, Wanda (Conner) Evans; two sons, Dr. James Dewitt Evans at Charlotte, NC and Rev. Abraham John Evans of Bridgewater, VA; one brother, Rev. Lester S. Evans of Scherer, and there sisters, Mrs. Lillie Weimar and Mrs. Susie Bergeson both of Maysville and Mrs. Florena Duling of Fairmont.

Friends will be received tonight and tomorrow at the Schaeffer Funeral Home. Petersburg.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oakdale Church of the Brethren by Rev. B. M. Rollins, assisted by the pastor, Rev. James Beckman.  Interment will be in the Maysville Cemetery.

Lester S. Evans, 77 of Scherr, died Sunday, November 16, 1980 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Born April 28, 1903 in Grant County, he was a son of the late James G. Evans and Arnie (Becker) Evans.

He was an insurance salesman for 50 years and owned and operated the Lester s. Evans Insurance Agency for 30 years. He was an ordained minister of the Church of the Brethren, member and trustee of the Oak Dale Church of the Brethren and member of the Petersburg Kiwanis Club.

Surviving are his widow, Edna Mae (Ebert) Evans; three sisters, Mrs. Florena Duling, Scherr, and Mrs. Susie Bergeson and Mrs. Lottie Weimer both of Maysville; 13 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.

Services will be conducted in the Oak Dale Church of the Brethren today Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev.
James Heckman, the Rev. Laurean Smith, the Rev. Walter Blough.  Interment will be in the Maysville Cemetery.

The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to the Oak Dale building Fund.

Arrangements were in charge of the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clarice Mae Evans, 76, of Maysville, died Jan. 24, 2004, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.
Born July 11, 1927, in Klines Gap, she was the daughter of the late Otis Phares and Fannie (Kisamore) Phares. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn K. "Bud" Evans, Feb. 7, 2002; four brothers, Carl Phares, Boyd Phares, Dawes Phares and James Phares; and three sisters, infant Glossie Phares, Macie Kile and Sylvia Keplinger.

She is survived by one son, Glenn Thomas "Tom" Evans and wife, Darlene, of Maysville; one daughter, Carole Smith and husband, Gary, of Arthur; two brothers, George Phares of Maysville and the Rev. Ken Phares of Cabins; one sister, Clela Lyons of Lahmansville; six grandchildren, Shawn Smith, Kim Didawick, Kelly Riggleman, Matthew Evans, Glenna Goldizen and Kari Evans; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 19, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with tnterment in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.

Paul Frank Eskridge, 84, of Petersburg, died Oct. 8, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
Born Feb. 14, 1918, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Santford Eskridge and Lula B. (Keplinger) Eskridge.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mable V. (Sites) Eskridge; two sons, Donald K. Eskridge of Petersburg and David K. Eskridge of Hinton; one daughter, Dollene K. Wilson of Petersburg; one sister, Hilda M. (Eskridge) Ueberfluss; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Oct. 11, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with interment in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

Donald Woodroe Evans, 48, died unexpectedly on February 19, 1969 at his home at 7 Garrett St. Hagerstown, Maryland.  He had suffered a heart attack within the past month.

Mr. Evans was born at Old Fields, the son of the late Gabriel and Bertie Evans.  He had resided in Hagerstown for the past 25 years, working at Fairchild Corporation and later operated a barbershop in Halfway.

He was a veteran of World War II, a member of St. Andrews United Methodist church and the American Legion Post no. 42 in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Mr. Evans was married to the former Miss Sarah Catherine Siever, Moorefield, who survives. He is also
survived by two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Susan) Liston, Frederick, Maryland, Mrs. Terry (Judith) Browning, Hagerstown, Maryland, two sons, Thomas W. and Donald G. Evans, Hagerstown, Maryland, two sisters, Miss Ruth Evans, Alexandria, Virginia, Mrs. Mary Wilson, Keyser, two brothers, Robert Evans Falls Church Virginia, Brooke Evans, Martin and three grandchildren, Cristain T. Evans, Christopher Lane Liston and Terry Lee Browning, Jr.   He was a brother of the late Haven Evans of Scherr.  Funeral services and burial took place in Hagerstown

Mr. Evans eyes were donated to the Medical Eye Bank of Maryland.  According to a Baltimore technician the bank was notified of the death immediately and a technician was went to the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.  The eyes were rushed to the Bay Bridge, where State Police were waiting as an escort to the Eastern Shore City.  Mr. Evans eyes were used in transplant surgery late in the afternoon of the day of his death.   **************************************************************** 
George "Frank" Evans, 79, of Fayettesville, Pa., formerly of Grant County, died Thursday, April 25,at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Jan.11, 1906 in Oakland, Md., he was a son of the late George Evans and Martha (Simms) Evans. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae (Shawkey) Evans, in 1963; one son and two daughters.

Mr. Evans was employed by E. D. Plumber and Sons Construction of Chambersburg, Pa., from 1951 to 1973.

Surviving are two sons, Arlie L. Evans, Clear Spring, Ms., Haven M. Evans, Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter,
Ellen Foust, Fayettesville, Pa.; two sisters, Pearl VanFleet, Petersburg, Blanche Welsch, Burlington; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Park-Geisel Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Dennis Chisholm. Interment was in Maysville Cemetery, with graveside services held Monday morning.

Mrs. Dollie Ethel Evans, 86, died Wednesday, January 23, 1985, at her home in Maysville.

She was born in Grant County Nov. 24, 1898, daughter of the late Kenton Arbogast and Sarah (Rohrbaugh) Arbogast.

Mrs. Evans was a member of Jordan Run Union Church of the Brethren. Her husband, Evers J. Evans, died
June 20, 1961.

Surviving are five sons, Gene P Evans, Leo E. Evans and Glenn K. Evans, all of Maysville; Emil N. Evans, London, Ohio; Colin L. Evans, Rig; one daughter Ica Teter, Maysville; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted yesterday at the Jordan Run Union Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Greg Rotruck and the Rev. Paul Donaldson. Interment was in the Evans family cemetery in Maysville.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Edward J. Evans, 62, of Maysville, died at his home Saturday, Aug. 10, 1985. He had been disabled for the past four years.

Born March 9, 1921 in Grant County, he a son of Ethel (Mallow) Evans of Maysville and the late Harrison Evans. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, one sister and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. Evans was a self employed truck driver and farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Johnson) Evans; two sons, Golden E. Evans and Gregory L. Evans both of Maysville; one daughter, Karen Davis, Fredericksburg, Va.; one sister, Anna Jane Mongold, Arthur; six brothers, Rev. Harold Evans, Robert Evans, Ora Evans, all of Maysville, John Evans, Gorman, Md., Leonard Evans, Verlin Evans, both of Goshen, Ind.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. James Heckman. Interment was in the Evans family cemetery.

Ora Julian “Jim” Evans, 64 of Maysville, died Friday, February 17, 1989 at the home of his daughter, Marsha Barger, Maysville.

Born March 24, 1924 at Maysville, he was a son of Ethel R. (Mallow) Evans of Maysville and the late Harrison B. Evans.

Mr. Evans was a member of the Jordan Run Church of the Brethren and a logger by trade

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Arbutus Mae (Moyers) Evans, September 23, 1988; one son, one granddaughter, one sister and one brother.

Surviving , besides his mother, are two sons, Ronald J. Evans and Frederick E. Evans, both of Maysville, five daughters, Linda L. Martin, New Creek, Kathy S. Barger, Marsha A. Barger and Dreama M. Funeral services were held yesterday (Monday) morning at the Jordan Run Union Church with the Rev. John R. Moyers and the Rev. Douglas Cline officiating.  Burial was in Riggleman Cemetery at Cabins.

Memorials may be made to the Jordan Run Union Church Building Fund.
Schaeffer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Emil N. Evans, 66, of London, Ohio, died Friday, May 1, 1998, in Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

Born September 29, 1931, in Maysville, he was the son of the late Evers and Dollie (Arbogast) Evans. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Boyd E. Evans, July 15, 1975 and a sister.

For 35 years he was employed by General Motors in Columbus, where he retired in 1988. After his retirement,
he worked as a technician for Madison Arrow at Madison County Airport. He was a member of the London Church of Christ in Christian Union.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel V. (Brown) Evans; one son, Wilbur Evans of London; one sister, Ica Teter of Maysville; four brothers, Glenn Evans, Leo Evans, Gene Evans and Colon Evans, all of Maysville; three grandsons, David Evans, Daniel Evans and Donovan Evans, all of London; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted Monday afternoon in the London Church of Christ in Christian Union, London, with
the Rev. Lee Stanley officiating. Interment followed in Kirkwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the London Church of Christ in Christian Union.
