Private Christopher C Burgess was born Feb 24, 1845 at Greenland, (Hardy Co now Grant) WV.  He was a private in Co's I and B of the 7th Inf.    He enlisted in Co I on Dec 25, 1861 and was transferred to Co B in the summer of 1863 and was discharged in July 1865.    He sustained a gunshot wound to the left shoulder and left leg at Fredericksburg, VA on Dec 13, 1862.         After his discharge, he return to his home near Maysville, WV and married Susan Keplinger on Aug 15, 1866.  The had nine daughters.  Christopher and Susan left Maysville in Oct 1887 and went to Idaho. Susan died in Idaho on Dec 22, 1888.    Christopher returned to Maysville in Jan 1890.  Christopher married Martha Jane Martin May 29, 1890.  He and Martha had 4 daughter and 2 sons.
