31 Dec 2002 Searching for any information on Robert Garret McDonald s/o William & Mary McDonald. Robert was my great-grandfather. Hardy Co. records show he applied for a marriage license in Moorefield but it is thought that he lived in the portion of Hardy Co that became Grant Co. ******************************************************************************************** |

query for a Letha CHAMBERS who married Daniel SHELL on 17 Aug 1817 (marriage is documented). She was born about 1789 and died about 1865. I have nothing on where she came from and who her parents were. I do have most everything, after her marriage, but nothing before. After her marriage she lived in the part of Hardy County that later became Grant County. LeRoy McDonald |

I have a picture of a young Chisholm lady who I'm told was a school teacher. There is a name written on the front of the picture that looks like Lucrita or something close to that. The picture says "Portmass Art Studio" Keyser, WV. I believe this was taken in the early 1900's. This picture was found in an old collection of Bosley, Bobo and Aronhalt pictures. My Bosley's are from the area around Mt. Storm, Grant Co, WV. I believe there were some Chisholm's who lived in Bayard. If you are interested, I can e-mail you the picture. I'm researching BOSLEY, KITZMILLER & CALHOUN. Other families that are connected -- Amtower, Arnold, Aronhalt, Bean, Bobo, Bowman, Burgess, Burr, Cosner, Ebert, Evans, Hanlin, High, Kessel, Liller, Lyon, McCauley, McGriff, Nair, Paugh, Roberts, Sauerbrun, Schell, Sherwood, Shields, Shillingburg. ******************************************************************************************** |

Olie had been married for 8 years at time of census and they had 5 children born to marriage but only 3 were living (Clora D [Dovie}, Eva M, and Emma J. Posting Title: PETERS, MAYHEW, SHEARS, BRAFFORD Earlier postings referred to PETERSEN/BRAFFORD. This is a correction to those postings. I finally made a positive connection to an Amos PETERS (b 1829???), married to Eliza Ann ??surname??? with children Alice J (b1855), Sarah E (b1857) and James W (b1859) all of West Virginia / Virginia. My findings come from the 1860 Hardy Co Virginia census and the names are very clear, with a positive connection forward to my family. This Alice J PETERS is the wife of Frank BRAFFORD in the 1880 Hardy Co West Virginia Census and from my earlier queries I have also made positive connection that Amos's wife appears to be remarried in the 1870 Grant Co WV census to James MAYHEW - so I am guessing that Amos might have been killed in the Civil War. Lastly Elizabeth SHEARS (b1812) appears prominently with these families in the various 1850, 60 & 70 census. SHEARS may be her married name. I don't know how she fits, but placing it here for help. I suspect these folks generally remained in the same place and the county/state boundries changed. If any of these names sound familiar - please contact me. Thanks - Ross ******************************************************************************************* March 16, 2006 Robin Cravens rcrave11@comcast.net Searching for information on the Archibald Roberts family, especially that of Dorcas Roberts Hunter.
