Dogs And Cats

Why Dogs Sniff Each Other

The dogs once held a meeting; they came
from near and far. Some of them
came by train, and others by trolley car. But
before they got inside the hall and
allowed to take a look. They had to take their
rear ends off and hang them on a hook.
Then in the hall they went at once... the
mother, son and sire. But hardly were
they seated when some "mongrel" hollard
" FIRE!" So out the door they ran all in a
bunch... they had not time to look... And each
one took a rear-end, at random, from
the hook. They got their rear-ends all mixed
up, which made them awful sore. To
think they didn't have the one they'd always
had before. And that's the reason you
will see, when you go down the street. Each
dog will stop to swap a smell with
every dog they meet. And that's the reason
why a dog will leave a nice bone. To
go and smell a rear-end... 'cause he hopes
to find his own!

The Cats Prayer

Although I am too proud to beg, and may
appear to be a very independent
creature, I ask for your loving care and
attention. I rely on you for my well
being much more than you may realize.
This I promise you, my benefactor,
that I will not be a burden on you nor will I
demand more of you than you care
to give. I will be a quiet peaceful island of
serenity for you to gaze upon; a
soft soothing body to caress, and I shall purr
ears. Since I am a gourmet who appreciates
different taste sensations. I pray you
will give me a variety of nutritious foods and
fresh water daily. You know dear
friend, how I love to go. Allow me, I pray. a
warm sheltered place where I can
rest peacefully and feel secure. If I am
wounded in battle or suffering from
disease, please tend me gently, and see that
I am treated by loving and
competent hands. Please protect me from the
inhuman humans who would hurt
and torture me for ther own amusement. I am
accustomed to your gentle touch
and am not always suspicious nor swift
enough to avoid such malicious
acts. In my later years when my senses fail
me and my infirmities become to
great to bear, allow me the comfort and
dignity that I desire for my closing
days and help me gently in my pain or
passing. Hear this prayer, my
dear friend, my fate depends on you.

The Creation

When God had made the earth and sky
the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
the fish, the birds and bees.

And when at last He'd finished
not one was quite the same.
He said, "I'll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name."

And so He traveled far and wide
and everywhere He went,
a little creatiure followed Him
until it's strength was spent.

When all were named upon the earth
and in the sky and sea,
the little creature said, "Dear Lord,
there's not one left for me."

Kindly the Father said to him,
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
and called you dog, My friend."

Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
are you ready to come home?
Oh yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
and , as a cat, you know I am most able
to decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered Angel
but I must come slowly
for my human friends are troubled
for you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God.
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
that nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is... forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
replied the glorious cat
for I will whisper into their hearts
that I am always with them.
I just am... forever and ever and ever.

Cats

The difference between a cat and a dog is
that a cat can bark... and doesn't

When dogs leap onto your bed it's
because they adore being close to you.
When cats leap onto your bed it's
because they adore your bed.

If you call a cat and it comes running,
what you have is a dog.

A Little Dog Angel

High up in the courts of heaven today a
little dog Angel waits: with the other Angels
he will not play, but he sits alone at the gates.
"For I know my master will come" says he,
"and when he comes he will call for me." The
other Angels pass him by as they hurry
toward the throne, and he watches them with
a wistful eye as he sits at the gates alone.
"But I know if I just wait patiently that
someday my master will call for me." And his
master, down on earth below, as he sits in his
easy chair, forgets sometimes, and whispers
low to the dog who is not there. And the little
dog Angel cocks his ears and dreams that his
master's voice he hears. And when at last his
master waits outside in the dark and cold, for
a hand of death to open the door, that leads
to those courts of gold, he will hear a sound
through the gathering dark, a little dog
Angel's bark.

What Is A Cat

Cats have led us every step of the way.
Teaching us the importance of unconditional
love, and the value of a really good afternoon
nap.

Cats are dogs with a collede education.

Dogs teach you how to love. Cats teach you

Ten Favors A Dog Asks From Man

1) My life lasts between ten to fifteen years.
Every separation from you means
suffering for me. Think about this before
you decide whether or not to take me.
2) Give me time to understand what you are
asking from me.
3) Instill confidence in me - I thrive on it.
4) Do not be angry with me for a long time
and do not lock me up for punishment!
You have your work, your pleasure, your joy - I have only you.
5) Talk often to me! Even if I do not
understand you completely, I do
understand the tone of your voice when
you talk to me.
6) Know that, no matter how I am being
treated, I shall never forget it!
7) Keep in mind, before you hit me, that my
jaws could crush the knuckles of
your hand with ease, but that I do not make
use of them.
8) Before you scold me when working with
me, consider: perhaps I am
uncomfortable from digesting my last meal;
perhaps I was exposed to te sun too
long; or perhaps I have a wornout heart.
9) take care of me when I am old -- you too
are going to be old one day.
10) Be with me when my going gets rough.
Everything is easier for me when
you are beside me.

Cat Owner's Prayer

Because i'm only human, it's sometimes
hard to be the wise, all knowing creature
that my cat expects of me.
And so I pray for special help, to somehow
understand the subtle implications, of each
proud meowed command.
Oh let me not forget that chairs were put
on earth to shred; and what I like to call a lap
is actually a cat-bed.
I know it's really lots to ask but please, oh
please, take pity; and though i'm only human,
make me worthy of my kitty!

Things We Can Learn From A Dog

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy
ride. Allow the experience of fresh air and
the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to
greet them. When it's in your best interest,
practice obedience. Let others know when
they've invaded your territory. Take naps and
stretch before rising. Run, romp and play
daily. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something
you're not. If what you want lies buried, dig
until you find it. When someone is having a
bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle
them gently. Thrive on attention and let
people touch you. Avoid biting when a simple
growl will do. On hot days, drink lots of water
and lay under a shady tree. When you're
happy, dance around and wag your entire
body. No matter how often you're scolded,
don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run
right back and make friends. Bond with your
pack. Delight in the simple joy of a long
walk.

Cat's Prayer

I hope i'm not asking too much, Lord; all I
want is a home of my own, and to know when
my next meal is coming instead of the scraps
I get thrown.
I've been out in the cold for so long now, just
coping as best as I can; but it's not been so
long i've forgotten the touch of a soft caring
I look in house windows at Christmas, as cats
doze by the fire, quite replete; how i'd
welcome a box in the kitchen, and tasty food
for me to eat.
For me there was tinsel and giftwrap, but the
fun didn't last very long. They put me outside
with the rubbish; I still don't know what I did
wrong.
I really don't want to be greedy; at the
moment i'm all skin and bone, so would it
give me a home.
