Adding Fractions and Subtracting Fractions

Adding and Subtacting Fractions are easy. ------------------------------------- Adding Fractions =============== 1. The fractions must have common denominators. 2. When they have common denominators, just add the numerators. Example: 1/2+1/2=2/2 The numerator is the 1 in front of the two. The two is the denominator. 3. Now if you have different denominators, you will need to change the denominators so they're alike. --------------------- To add mixed numbers 1.To do this, you need to find a common number that both numerator and denominator divide into evenly. Example: 2/4+2/8 With this example, the common number both denominators go into, and the lowest number they go into, would be 8. The 4 goes into the 8 2x so you multiply the numerator by 2. Since the 8 on the second number is the same, the fraction stays the same. 2X2/8+2/8 4/8+2/8= 6/8 ---------------------------------------------------------------------
