Brian Sherman's "Treacherous Soul"
© 1997-2004 Brian Sherman
A Poet's Corner Original Poet!
Deaden my eyes,
Bury me deep inside,
Suddenly lost,
There is no place to hide,
Take a look at yourself,
Turn around, run away,
Protect yourself,
From the lives that you betrayed,
Flee from the light,
But there is nowhere to go,
There's just no escape,
From your own treacherous soul,

Corrupt my thoughts,
Torture my heart and mind,
Afraid and alone,
Contemplate suicide,
Tear yourself from within,
Prepare to face the day,
Try to explain,
But you can't find a thing to say,
Search for another path,
But you don't know which way to go,
Desperate to escape,
From your own treacherous soul,

Open my eyes,
Awaken me from inside,
Suddenly found,
That you're no friend of mine,
Try to forgive yourself,
But still you turn away,
Praying that you will live,
To kill another day,
Try to escape your life,
But you've still nowhere to go,
You're condemned to hell again,
By your own treacherous soul.....
