Gary Hill's "Reservoir"

Deep inside the bosom of the soul
lies life's reservoir.
Filled with sights, sounds, and useless chatter,
that may temporarily delight the senses,
ultimately leaves the inner being
of life's reservoir, empty and void.
Multitudes of souls, hurting and defeated, the ache
scarce heard above the roar.
When the reservoir is empty, hope is fleeting,
and life's stream seems empty and cold.
Across the annals of time the truest measure
of happiness won't be wealth and possesions,
but rather, the ultimate measure will be the
love that occupies life's reservoir.
