Floriana Hall's "Prelude To Easter"
© 2004 Floriana Hall
Fat Tuesday has passed
From King Cake to fast,
The good Lord knocks on our door,
Ashes on head, rich or poor.

Fasting is our prayers in action,
Hunger for God satisfaction,
We must help carry the cross
So our souls will not be lost.

Jesus will take away all our sins,
Through His death, eternity wins,
Through prayer, our lives well spent,
Through alms, three pillars of Lent.

Jesus prayed for himself and others,
He said that we are all brothers,
He forgave those who hated Him
Who scourged Him and spat at Him.

He suffered and died for mankind,
The way of the cross was defined,
If we drink His cup, eat His bread,
Our spiritual life will not be dead.

The wood of the crib, the wood of the cross,
His sacrifice for us never a loss,
On Easter morn, Jesus rose in glory,
The crux of our faith, our Savior's story.
