Floriana Hall's "Analysis Of An Artist"

What was he thinking, I wonder
When he painted this near-abstract picture?
This young man, my grandson
With a deep booming voice like thunder!
Tall and willowy, gentle and kind,
A teen with a thoughtful caring mind,
Wise beyond his sixteen years,
Never gets rattled, while others may fear.
He titled the painting "8 in the Middle" --
It could have portrayed the evolution of music,
An 8-track in the center, leaves on one side,
A jaw harp on the other,
With an harmonica beneath,
And peppermints instead of a fiddle!
Was he trying to depict harmony
That only music seems to know and be?
Or how science has advanced with ease
Or sweet as candy melodies?
Was he trying to tell us
That all life comes only from God
Who made the trees from which fall leaves,
The wood to build instruments that please
And food to satisfy our palates?
His personality exudes calm and patience
While also being comical,
But he truly is a thinker
With perception astronomical.
Which was he pondering?
What does his illustration mean?
Only this young artist knows
Because sixteen year old young men
Tend to keep their feelings to themselves
as they continue to grow.
